It's tough to narrow the field down to a single actor, but Meryl Streep stands alone among actresses, IMO.

There's been so many great one's that I would think it would have to be a top 5 or 10 list, and maybe even break it into categories, such as drama, comedy, westerns, etc.

I went ahead and broke this down into categoires, in separate threads.

Great idea, should've done it to start with.

Cary Grant

In November 2004 Grant was named "The Greatest Movie Star of All Time" by Premiere Magazine.[27] Richard Schickel, the film critic, said about Grant: "He's the best star actor there ever was in the movies."

Ian Fleming stated that he partially had Cary Grant in mind when he created his suave super-spy, James Bond. Sean Connery was selected for the first James Bond movie because of his likeness to Grant. Likewise, the later Bond, Roger Moore, was also selected for sharing Grant's wry sense of humor.

Here's a few of my actors:

Paul Newman

Gene Hackman

Clint Eastwood

Jimmy Stewart

Cary Grant

Gary Cooper

Henry Fonda

Humphrey Bogart

Steve McQueen

Sidney Poitier

Rod Stieger

Spencer Tracy

Gregory Peck

Tom Hanks

Morgan Freeman

Russell Crowe

Denzil Washington

Tim Robbins

John Wayne

Jack Lemmon

Jack Nichloson

Charlton Heston

Nickolas Cage

Marlon Brando

Pacino

Eastwood

Hackman

Penelope Ann Miller

Most have been named, but my basis of this thread is this; as hard as I think about it, I can NOT think of a single Denzel Washington movie that was a bomb...........

From "Glory" (Academy Award) to "He Got Game" to "Training Day" to "Man on Fire" and everything in between ( including "Remember The Titans - All Time Classic ) he is the best in my book.......

That movie got 2 stars... I don't understand movie critics....

Looking back at Fresh Prince Of Bel Air its weird to think Will Smith would be what he is now, but he is an amazing actor. I can't think of a bad movie he's been in.

The Wild Wild West.

Who does?

I guess I'm also a big fan of Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Will Smith, Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, and Tom Hanks as well.
