He is lock lottery pick, probably somewhere around pick 6-8. Pac-10 was at it's best in a long time this season and he was first team all PAC-10, Freshman of the Year over Kevin Love and Bayless.

Kevin Love was Freshman and POY in the Pac-10, I believe.

ESPN said Mayo, but I am sure there may be more than 1 award. They could be wrong as well.

He honestly wasn't really all that impressive this past season, IMO. I think he could use another year of college.

 

Or maybe two or three, Mayo imo will be picked up by someone in the NBA but I don't think that he wil be anywhere close to a star or impact player that some expect. I would say that he will be an average NBA role player.

Mayo is a lock to go in the top 10, and depending on how the lottery plays out and what the draft order is could easily be in the top 5.

 

He's as good or better than any guard in the draft, or potentially in the draft. I can't see selecting any guard not named Derrick Rose ahead of Mayo. Although Russell Westbrook, should he declare, is an intriguing prospect to me...

 

Of course, you never know how the foreign talent is going to affect the draft.

I think his performance this season at USC improved his NBA stock...and he was good enough to make the jump from high school last year had the rules not changed.

No suprise with Mayo entering the draft. Like it was said before, he would have had his name in the draft after high school if not for the one year rule.

At least OJ will play defense..which is more than you can say for most guys of his caliber and exposure...that's what makes him ready to leave college right now above all else.

1 more year wouldn't have killed him, but I don't disagree with this.

One more year wouldn't kill anyone, but O.J. is NBA ready...I'm not sure another year would benefit him that much as far as being ready for the league. The biggest gain would be from a weaker draft class next year...he'd could move up into the top 3 in a weaker class possibly.

 

However, depending on the draft order, I could see him cracking the top 5 easily this year. I don't think staying another year would be worth it.

 

I'd like to see all these guys stay...getting these elite freshmen into the college game instead of watching them go to the NBA has added a lot of excitement, IMO...guys like Mayo, Beasley, Love, etc...

 

Imagine in the past, getting to see a guy like Lebron James play college ball for a year. I don't necessarily agree with the rule that forces guys to go to college for a year, but from a fans perspective, I love it.
