April 6, 200818 yr Not to be a downer but the Reds usually do look good till right after the all-star game. But all in all I think this will be a good full year for the Reds. I mean there isn't one team in the Central that is expected to run away with the division, I'd say the Reds biggest foe may be the Cubs this year.

Yeah, but they have NEVER had a #5 look as good as Volquez did. They have a very good chance of winning the division.
April 6, 200818 yr I'm not trying to knock the pitching because that has been the achilles heel for the Reds in years past. Hitting can only carry a team so far. The Reds have done their homework with their farm clubs and have seemed to develop their young pitchers quite wellI just hope they get swept by the Braves. Even though the last couple of years the Reds have had the Braves number! :irked:

That's not nearly as much of an issue as in years past... :thumb::thumb: I know it's early, but if Cueto and Volquez keep pitching like they did in their 1st games, and you know what you will get from Harang, and Fogg and Bronson should get 10 wins, this might be the best rotation, top to bottom in the central. Plus with what the O is capable of doing....this might be an exciting season.

In the event that Volquez and Cueto can sustain a solid clip through the all-star break, would the front office be willing to package Homer to bolster the lineup somehow? I'm not talking a rent-a-player, I'm talking a solid deal. Homer and Freel package for instance? Just thinking forward. IMO, I doubt that Homer would be dealt, but considering he's leaps and bounds seemingly behind these 2, I wonder if things play out as I stated above if the front office could be enticed to deal him?
