In the deposition - made under oath - Johnson said he never had an agreement with the Funny Bone, but would often give away prizes spontaneously at the comedy club.

 

According to the lawsuit, the Funny Bone advertised Chad Johnson's Lexus giveaway for the Dec. 19 show.

 

In depositions, Funny Bone management said Johnson told them of plans to raffle the Lexus, said Eric Deters, attorney for the plaintiffs.

 

The lawsuit also accuses Johnson of awarding trips to Europe, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl to patrons at several Funny Bone shows, but not delivering the trips.

 

Johnson said his car, which contained names and phone numbers of the recipients on index cards in a manila envelope, was stolen from in front of his grandmother's Miami home shortly after the December show, according to the deposition.

 

The car was recovered, but the phone numbers were gone, Johnson said. According to the deposition, Johnson said he called at least one person to remind him of the trip to Europe.

 

Three days after his car was stolen, Johnson said, a close friend died and Johnson decided not to go on the trips. He did go to the Pro Bowl because his coaches insisted, Johnson said in the deposition.

 

Johnson said in the deposition said his late friend's name was Chris, but he didn't know Chris' last name.

Thanks for the thread I forgot all about this. Funny how his friend dies and doesn't even know his name. I wonder what the outcome of this lawsuit is going to be.

Why would he do all of that? I'm guessing they made a lot of money off of these "give aways". That's ridiculous.

I didn't read the article but based on the post about it I would say you put the wrong name in there. It should be how ridiculous is Chad Johnson. I know Eric has done many things to warrant the feelings people have of him but in this case I actually think he might be the good guy.

Chad says everyone is full of it (in a deposition), everyone else including the Funny Bone says Chad is full of it and Chad commenting he doesn't even know his friends last name further erodes his almost non-existent credibility.

 

I see Chad either settling or losing this one but his attorney is very good.

The city and Bengals' fans seem to be turning against Chad so it's not a surprise regarding the timing of all of this. Add to the fact that Eric Deters is involved and it's downright predictable.

 

I remember reading about this when it originally happened. I figured Chad would just settle out of court and we wouldn't hear much about it again. I still think that'll happen, although perjury is much more serious than rigging a raffle, etc.

 

If anything comes out of this, it just goes to show you how stupid Chad Johnson truly is. He had months to make this go away and apparently didn't.

Chad is an idiot, can't we just leave it at that and move on. Let us all agree that anything Chad says from here on out is either contradictory to something he's already stated, or just plain old jibbirish.

I think he matches up pretty well with Chad.

Maybe thats why Chad wants out of Cincy. Looks like this one could cost him some $$$. He loses a $250,000 bonus for not coming to workouts. (Voluntary) How much will he lose a day when he holds out? Now this little lawsuit. Maybe he was counseling Chris Henry all the time??!! :madman:

I wish we could just move on and let this crap die down! Leave the guy alone and live your lives! The whole story isn't even out and yet people want to start calling names and pointing fingers! Was it wrong, looks that way, but lets just move forward!
