Shawn Thacker might be a person of interest for Boyle position?

 

Maybe. Could be a good opportunity to leave Somerset on a high note. Where is Thacker from?

I have done a little research as far as I could find: 1999-00 6-17 Mike Pittman, 2000-2001 10-18 Mike Pittman, 2001-2002 18-12 Andy Moberly, 2002-2003 16-11 Andy Moberly, 2003-2004 13-14 Andy Moberly, 2004-2005 20-11 Ronnie Bottoms, 2005-2006 21-10 Ronnie Bottoms,2006-2007 18-13 Ronnie Bottoms, 2007-2008 17-13 Ronnie Bottoms. I was also looking back to our regional results during those years and we had not won a regional game during this time until Coach Bottoms first year.

Coach Thacker has done a great job at Somerset. Not sure he deserves the situation at Boyle right now.

Boyle County seems to be having a problems keeping coaches. Seems parents are running things over there. Bottoms did a good job with superior talent at Boyle. He had the best player in the region two of the last three years.

 

Two out of three region finals experiences should be enough for any coach to feel comfortable. Anyone know why he was forced out.

 

I think Springate would be a viable option.

Rumor has it a certain Doctor in town thought that his son should have been treated differently. He apparantly missed a practice for something to do with football and was disciplined. Bottoms apparantly treated him like the rest of his players. There are a lot of phone calls and upset people right know. Some more heads may roll before this is all said and done. There are a lot of Bottoms suppoorters out there right now and he had put basketball back on the map at a football school. Honestly, it is hard for me to say but our basketball has been much better than our football the last 3 or 4 years.Stay tuned!

I might be mistaken, but I think he is from Floyd Co., I think he played for John Martin at Allen Central..... I could be wrong

Huge Bottoms supporter here. My family and I were looking forward to Coach Bottoms coaching our son for the next four years. I have heard the "doctor in town rumors" as well as a couple of other families mentioned as well. Heads should roll after this. 3 Coaches in 1 year forced out at the school. Ridiculous is the only word that comes to mind. I don't see how coaching at Boyle County can be seen as a good or great job anymore. Too much blood, sweat and tears that these coaches have given to the school to turn their respective programs around(Pardue was in a no win situation, the loss of Mason uncalled for) but if a few mommies and daddies don't like the coach he's gone. If I was the baseball coach, I'd be kissing a lot of babies right now.

Ive been checking into this some. Seems like there were some problems and some parents that were not happy. But it also looks like Bottoms would have been canned if he had not resigned. Ive heard lawsuits mentioned as well. There is more to that story than is being told here.

 

I also hear that Springate is the #1 candidate at this point.

I've herd that Boyle is trying to steal Guy Morris away from Kentucky State to coach Basketball now.

I have been doing some checking to, I have been standing at the courthouse waiting to see the doctor and his wife for a lawsuit. They have not made it yet. Just another ploy by some parents to run off another good coach. They were openly saying that if Burkich did not get rid of him they would do what ever it took to get rid of him. Things must change for Boyle to be good in athletics again.

Didn't Boyle get to two sweet 16's before Bottom's graced the hardwood at that school? I think that would count for regional wins.

According to what I know( which is not alot) the kid was disciplined for taking a visit to a college for football( Notre Dame?). Who in their right mind would discipline a kid for a visit to a college they were maybe going to get a opportunity to attend? Seems like that they would be happy that the kid was getting a shot. Im sure the football coaches at Boyle love that veiled shot at them rebel man.

His information goes back to the 1999-2000 season. Boyle went to the state tournament in 1998 and 1999. They had a sharp drop in talent after that season, which led to the worst of Mike Pittman's teams.

Yeah, it was great that he got to go to Notre Dame junior day. But he was still a member of the BASKETBALL team. The kid missed practice, the weekend before the district tournament. He got back, and got disciplined.

 

I applaud the coach for doing it too. You cannot show favoritism. I am sure ANY of the players that skipped practive would have been punished. the punishment was not to severe either, I think he did not get to start or something. It was totally meaningless into the outcome of the game (s).

 

Boyle did got back to back in 98-99. But, they had a great player. One of the best ever in the 12th region, who I think BC should go after to be their next coach.
