This thread is about Rose Hill's coach resigning not about Bath County. Did he resign or not someone please confirm.

 

Coach Tim Fraley did indeed resign yesterday. Tim did a great job heading up the program for the past 5 years and his efforts are much appreciated. Tim took over a program that many considered to be dead and in 5 years he had us back in Richmond for the Class A and playing in the regional tournament.

 

Does anyone else find it interesting that when Rose Hill gets a new student they are called transfers or recruits and when Rose Hill loses a student to one of it's neighbors they are called defections. Interesting isn't it?

 

The thing is that every program loses players due to various reasons, graduation, transfers or defections in Rose Hill's case, or just giving up the game. Rose Hill will be fine, new chapter, new challenge and our kids are ready to step up.

Where's he going?

Coach Fraley has resigned and ow it is time to find the right coach for these boys. I wish Tim the best and hope he does well where ever he ends up. I would like to personally thank him for all he did for my child.

For a school that touts "Christian Education" as a reason the kids transferred in(regardless of what grade that was) EVERYTHING seems centered around basketball.

 

I have been very critical of Rose Hill since the very beginning of the OJ circus and I will give my reason why.

 

I was a student of Christian Schools until 7th grade(Beka Book and the A.C.E. program) and it gave me an outstanding, solid base for high school and college. The MAIN focus of the school was education, but we did have sports. There is no doubt in my mind that RH started out that way, but from an outsider looking in it seems they lost their way when OJ transferred in.

 

 

Get back to educating kids and if GOD wants you to have a succesful basketball team, RH will.

I take exception to your last comment. Rose Hill has never stopped educating kids. My son is in the 6th grade and my daughter is in the 3rd and I can tell you that their education is second to none.

 

Your comments about the focus on basketball are very common and all I can say is that it depends on your perspective. Some tell us that there is not enough focus on athletics.

 

Most people know who our basketball coach was prior to Tim Fraley taking over 5 years ago but hardly anyone knows who our history teacher is today. So who is really focusing too much on basketball?

In reality shouldn't this be the focus of any school? It appears to me that it is okay for public schools to have a good athletic program but when the private schools succeed in athletics they are getting away from their purpose.

I'll keep this short because the thread is "coach". I believe their main focus is the same as it was. They just added sports. Somebody wants them to have a team because they have had some pretty good ones. Nothing wrong with a little basketball. Judge not.....:thumb:

Is that Big Sandy area, or Big Sandy Super Store?

 

I have heard today that the name from the Big Sandy area that I had connected recently with the RH job may not actually be interested. A source close to the program did tell me that someone who interviewed for a teacher job recently at the school may be interested however.

The coaching staff that is still at Rose Hill should be considered for the coaching job.

What about Corey Gregg? Frosh next year. He transferred in last year as an 8th grder after playing AAU ball with Terry/Bush, etc. Will he go back to Pendelton Co where he is much needed?

Good to see you protect your school and its beliefs in education and fundamentals, but have always wanted to know something. My wife is part of the governors cup committee of testing and came to your area to do some of the testing, but we were surprised that all schools in the area have academic teams, with exception of Rose Hill. There was probably 20 or so middle schools in the middle school division and no Rose Hill in it either. I am not familiar with your area to know if all the middle schools were in it, but I would say they were due to a large number of attendance. Not picking on your comment, just think if you have kids in middle school age that this would concern me and you really ought to focus on getting a academic team started. If the school needs help with that, I could get you some help for that. Take care.
