South Region Sweet 16.

Memphis MUST make the free ones to win the game. In the end, Memphis will be to tough.

Memphis controls the pace and wins by 10-15.

71-68 Mich St

Tom Izzo with a week to prepare along with his tough defense and style of offensive play this one could very well be an upset, I think that Memphis pulls a Jimmy V and "survives and advances".

I'm going with the upset here. The Spartans are playing their best ball of the year and my pre season pick for the title has been coasting...

Tom Izzo is such a good tournament coach. The Spartans will be very prepared and this will be a war in the paint. They will have to get Memphis' big men in foul trouble if they want to win. Which is very possible. But as much as I would like to see MSU win I think Memphis will pull it out. Not by much though, their poor free throw shooting will keep them from pulling away. Tigers by 3.

All things being equal....Izzo's coaching trumps Calipari's....add to that Memphis' marvelous FT shooting, that should equate to a MSU win....

MSU - 67

Memphis State - 59

I had Pitt beating MSU, and then Memphis. So since MSU beat Pitt, I'll go with the upset.

Memphis is going down, but not this round.

I think Memphis will win but I hope State does so I voted for them. I'd be quite happy to see another early exit for the Tigers.

If the refs let Neitzel make the calls for them as they did against Pitt then Mich State will surely win this game.

Memphis is just too athletic and fast for the Spartys. Sometimes Michigan State has a hard time scoring, like Kentucky, and it will spell doom for them against the much more athletic Tigers.

This game seems ripe for the upset with people questioning Memphis and Michigan State playing very well on the opening weekend.

Memphis will win. Michigan State had a nice weekend, but I think their run is over. Memphis is the better and more talented team and bad free throw shooting won't be enough to cost them this game.

Also, I'm not buying the "Izzo over Calipari is an advantage" argument...

Memphis has lost in the regional finals to the national runner-up (UCLA and Ohio State) the last two seasons...and he got UMass to the title game. Calipari can get the job done in March. He's not out of his league against Tom Izzo.

Bingo!

If the Tigers could shoot better from behind the arc and at the line, they would be the favorite for the title, in my opinion.
