DragonFire Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I'm at least intermediate. I don't know that my opinion is inflated enough to call myself an expert. I've played that Chess Titans game, and beat all the way to 6 with ease, and then skipped straight to 9 where I got crushed. I'm somewhere in between that.

Jim Schue Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I haven't played in a while (several years), but always enjoyed it. I would be considered very entry-level, but I can think my way through stuff pretty well and adjust on the fly.
covcathftball Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I've played for years but I'd say I'm a very average player. Among most my friends I'm probably considered an expert, but compared to any legitimate player I have no problem admitting to being a novice.

It is great. To build, on this.....taking the queen out of the picture, my favorite pieces are the knights. They can be use so sneaky to slip up on a piece put the king in check and then take a key piece of your opponent's arsenal. LOVE the knights. What are your favorites pieces to use? Also, do you like trading queens? I am real comfortable playing without the queen and most the time the opponent is not. So, if I can trade queens, I am all for it.

The knights are the first pieces I try to eliminate from my opponent. Obviously I'd take his queen for a lesser piece right away, but if I can trade a bishop for a knight, I'll do it in a heartbeat.

I will use my knights alot as kamikaze to take out certain sections of the board to loosen up the defense and then attack with the big boys of rooks, queens, bishops. If the game is tight, I like to keep a knight who can provide protection from a reasonable distance for a piece going into the opponent's line to put the king in jeopardy.

I trade queens (and anything) when playing against a player who I do not feel is as experienced as me. I feel like with less pieces on the board the advantage is even more in the direction of the better player.

owsleyking Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I LOVE the game...I have NEVER been very good at it,but still enjoy the challenge. Actually,the Professor and I became friends because of the game..he had a foot injury years ago and I would go to his house and play chess with him.I don't remember,but I probably fared better across the chess board with him than on the golf course.
