Chess

My father has shown me a book that HIS grandfather wrote when he was declared a chessmaster back in the old country. There are soo many strategic tips and tells that he emphasizes...it leaves me scratching me head occasionally.

I know how to play and I consider myself intelligent, but when my 5th grade son asked me to play a game with him (I didn't even know he knew how to play - they learned in math class!) and he promptly defeated me, I gave it up for good!

I can't fall asleep so I am playing now. I'm willing to take any of you on!

I used to play a lot when I was younger. (Hidden talent that NOBODY knew about) I get bored every once in a while and I'll play on pogo but I have been playing checkers a lot more lately when I get bored.

Does anybody remember a game of chess a few years ago that was e-mail based where you send your move with a map of the chess board to your opponent and they would make their move and send it back? It was in the early days of e-mail and it was a fairly simple concept, but it was great. I can't find it anywhere anymore, but would love to see it again.

I'll play cch.

NKU is a bit rusty. I'll take someone else on tommorow

cch has made me realize that this game is a little difficult than what I remember. Thanks cch...I'll be up all night playing now.

I haven't played in a while (several years), but always enjoyed it. I would be considered very entry-level, but I can think my way through stuff pretty well and adjust on the fly.

I'm the same way. I'm pretty good at playing on a whim but I don't play often enough to be able to counter the strategies that most upper level players seem to have.

I love Chess but I'm not nearly as good as I used to be. Think I could get it back with some practice though.

And yea, maybe I did join a chess club in high school, so what.

I am playing 1&ONLY44 right now.

BTW, anyone ever played the game where you set two boards next to each other, and if you are white then your teammate is black, and when you take your opponent's piece you give it to your partner and he can put it on his board?

About as entry level as one can get, probably. I don't know a Ruy Lopez from a Jennifer Lopez.

Same fate as nkubaseball..........

I used to play some, but I can't remember the last time I played. I wasn't bad, just kind of quit playing. I guess I'd be a novice now, but I'd like my chances at that level.
