I have been wondering this for some time:

 

Let's say that I could wave a magic wand and magically cut taxes. Many of you claim that you know how to spend your money better than the government. You many be right. Maybe not. Let's say your taxes are cut in half. What do you do with that money? What changes as a result of what you do and do not do with that money?

Whatever I keep of it I give 10-15% to church and charity, I more fully fund my retirement savings, and I reinvest the bulk of it in my law firm, including hiring another paralegal and some technology upgrades to the law library.

I agree completely. I would probably start a business that I have been thinking about and hire a partner to help me. If I did not do that, I would invest more money for my children's and grandchildren's education. To me that is much more important than how much of a social security check I am going to get.

I increase my giving to Lord through his local new testament church. I increase my retirement fund, I add to my son's college fund and I maybe could even set a little aside for a rainy day. I know what is best for my family and my situation. Uncle Sugar recklessly spends most of what they take from me---maybe I could prevent some of that from continuing.

He said reduce taxes not eliminate them. The tax money they keep they can pay firefighters and police with, and they can cut the government spending on methadone clinics for crack addicts and advertising campaigns designed to improve consumer confidence in the automotive industry.

I believe the man who led the tax revolt in California back in 1980's was Howard Jarvis (I hope that is correct) with Propostion 83(?). He said "taxes and death were inevitable, but we shouldn't be taxed to death."

 

I would tithe more, put away for retirement, travel and whatever pops up. Then it would be left to my children to help them for whatever comes along. Maybe some of it would go to them, if they are having tough times, while I'm living, so they would not have to turn to the government.

In reality, I would probably blow it on going out to eat too often, buying things that are going to be in a yard sale or seeing movies, games, etc, that I could do without seeing.:irked:

I would find out what it's like NOT to live from paycheck to paycheck. In over 20 years of adult working life I have never experienced that.

 

I would put more away for my retirement because I have no confidence that Social Security will be an option for me. Either that of they will raise the minimum age so that only the select few who reach 100 years of age will ever get any of the money they put in back out.

How is that letter any worse then any of the franked mailings I have gotten over the years from my members of Congress telling me how much good they have done? Mazzoli, Northup, Yarmuth, they have all done it and now Yarmuth has become a spammer.
