They have also done this while starting 2 sophomores in Ricardo and Jeremiah Johnson after losing 4 seniors that led them to a state semi finish last year.

 

I'm not saying they're the best team in the state but if you saw them play you'd see why some would have them with Mason Co and Lexcath.

Guess we'll never know. They did beat a Covcath team 3 times this year though that Lexcath lost to. Beginning of the season or not, they still lost. Mason Co may be the only team in the state that could beat CCH 3 times in one season, outside of Holmes.

 

Also the 9th region is tougher than you think. Look at their record against down state competition and you'd be surprised.

 

The top 3 9th region teams are a combined 36-6 against out of region competition in the state of KY. As a region the 9th was 5-3 against the sweet 16 teams with two of those losses being from Covcath to Mason Co and the other being from St Henry (#7 team in nky) to UHA.

 

9th region teams knocked off the following sweet 16 teams: Lexcath (CCH), Elliot Co (CCH), South Laurel (Boone Co, Dixie), Shelby Co (Ryle).

 

I know you can't compare scores, but Holmes beat Boone, Dixie, and Ryle by an average of 24 points and beat all 3 by 20 +. (26 over Ryle, 20 over Boone, 28 over Dixie)

Throw the 3-5 teams in a hat, they could go in anyorder. Holmes could be #3 but I give the nod to UHA and J-town because they have a large # of quality wins and UHA has an All-A title. UHA is also on a pretty good winning streak. I don't think Holmes has beat any legit top 15 teams in the state and I know UHA and J-town have.

 

Also, Central's schedule has been brutal and they have a win over Ballard and an OT loss to Station. A very hot and cold team but when on I bet they can play with anybody.

 

Another interesting note is that the field includes 5 All A teams and all are in my top 11.

I have got my facts straight. Elliott has had one of the most dominating performances in recent years in the 16th region. They deserve to be about the 6th or 7th team in the sweet 16. The only one that has been crying this year is you over your Bearcats.

I mean, I usually like small school success, but some of the stuff I see makes me hope that Mason beats them by 30 again... JMO...

I wish Elliott would have drawn Greenwood or Louisville Central. It sounds like you have never watched Elliott play this year. Elliott has as much speed and heart as anyone in the state.

 

Which would be great if this was the state track meet... It's great to have those things but there is a whole lot more that goes into winning this tournament....

I am a 9th region fan and if Elliott played in the 9th region I guarantee you the top 3 teams (Holmes, Highlands, and Covcath) would all beat them by 10+ (which CCH already did) and Holmes would beat them by atleast 20.

 

You can probably throw Boone in there too...

All that and they still do not get my vote for 1 or 2.

Unless they win the Sweet 16.

And yes, I do believe they have a decent chance at winning it all. Just have not earned the #1 spot to this point.

Agreed. It is sad that sometimes we want to see teams lose (on any level) because of their fans....
