I think people are basing it on records, rather than who would actually win in head to head games. I'm sure there are at least 10 other teams in the sweet 16 who could have the same record or better against Elliot's schedule.

Central also lost to PRP by 32 points late in the regular season, and I saw PRP this year ... this wasn't one of their best teams.

 

Central also lost to Warren Central at home and lost to Doss, which went 6-18. Obviously, consistency isn't the Yellowjackets' trademark.

Throw the 3-5 teams in a hat, they could go in anyorder. Holmes could be #3 but I give the nod to UHA and J-town because they have a large # of quality wins and UHA has an All-A title. UHA is also on a pretty good winning streak. I don't think Holmes has beat any legit top 15 teams in the state and I know UHA and J-town have.

 

Also, Central's schedule has been brutal and they have a win over Ballard and an OT loss to Station. A very hot and cold team but when on I bet they can play with anybody.

 

Another interesting note is that the field includes 5 All A teams and all are in my top 11.

For the record I hope Holmes and UHA meet in the first semis. I am a fan of both of these teams.

You can't judge this team on their schedule, and if you do you are going to get a real surprise. I agree, they should play a stronger schedule but they only had 3 losses all year and most of there games were 30 to 50 point blowouts. It's real unfotunate for Elliott County that they had to draw the best team in the state or you would be watching them Satuday night.

Oh, come on ... Elliott's not a bad team, but they've done nothing this year to indicate that they are ready to make a run at the state title.

 

Yes, they should play a stronger schedule. Loading up on blowouts does nothing to prepare a team for the four-game grind that is the Sweet 16.

racer4life in case you have not noticed BGElite likes to cut Elliott down every chance he gets. I think it has something to do with jealousy & the fact that certain players from EC get more credit than someone we know he is close to gets. Plus he evidently does not know as much as he thinks he does or he would realize EC just cannot walk off & not play district opponents twice each year plus some of your other regional opponents. EC did pick up some better outside competition this year & will probably pick up a stronger schedule next year as these things cannot be done overnight. Best just to ignore such things sometimes.

I saw Central this year & cannot believe they made it out of the 6th region. If not for PRP laying the usual annual egg Central would not be here. I would love for EC to play them. Anyway Central will most likely be 1 and done.

I have no dog in this fight, but the 16th isn't exactly the best region in the state and IMO is one of the worst.

 

Elliot Co hasn't proved themselves against anyone outside of their region which is the reason for the majority of the people looking past their record because their strength of schedule is very weak to say the least. Do you honestly think Holmes, Lexcath, Mason Co, Jeffersontown, Paintsville, University Heights, Bardstown, Paducah Tiglhman, Hazard, Central, or even South Laurel wouldn't finish with the same, if not better record against Elliot's schedule?

 

IMO Holmes, UHA, LExcath, Mason Co, and Jeffersontown all could have finished with 0 or 1 loss. (with the loss coming to Mason Co and that's not even a given)

Elliot played in a very weak 16th region. If Holmes, Lexcath, Mason Co, UHA, J'town played the same schedule as Elliot, I wouldn't be surpsised to see a couple of them undefeated.

 

Also I have seen Elliot Co play 5 times this year and saw them quite a few last year. I think you better get your facts straight before you start with the personal attacks. Elliot is good but not a top 10 team.

I wish Elliott would have drawn Greenwood or Louisville Central. It sounds like you have never watched Elliott play this year. Elliott has as much speed and heart as anyone in the state.

I believe the 16th has just one team who defeated a sweet 16 team. Guess what...it wasn't Elliott. So Elliott plays in a weak region, has no W's against top 20 teams and yet they deserve to be #6 or #7? :lol::lol::lol:

Why is it that the 5th or 6th best team in the region (Raceland) played more sweet 16 teams than big bad Elliott?

 

I am a 9th region fan and if Elliott played in the 9th region I guarantee you the top 3 teams (Holmes, Highlands, and Covcath) would all beat them by 10+ (which CCH already did) and Holmes would beat them by atleast 20.
