LexCath has no one to match-up with Hopson.

Many college teams have no one to match up with Hopson.

 This is what everyone said before their last meeting, and what was the outcome? Mason by 30

Mason hit everything they threw up that night and Elliott couldn't get going.

Had a couple runs but both times, Miller took back over.

I hope Elliott can pull the upset, but see Mason winning again in a smaller margin than last time. Hopefully less than 10, so it won't be too humiliating for Ellott.

Both teams have beat Tates Creek. LexCath by 21 (both times), UH by 17. Both teams have beat Madison Central. LexCath by 10 @ LexCath, UH by 6 @ Fairdale. Both teams have beat Paintsville. LexCath by 18 @ 5/3rd Bank Classic, UH by 6 @ All A. LexCath beat Ballard by two. UH defeated Fayette Co. Georgia by 6. Fayette Co Georgia beat Ballard by 13. LexCath is entering the game on a 13 game win streak. UH is entering the game on a 17 game win streak.

Just thought i'd try to get some info on both teams up to try and compare them. No doubt LexCath has had the harder schedule but that's how they have matched up against teams played this year. IMO I think it will be closer then alot of people think. And of course I'm pulling for the upset:dancingpa!

I didn't say Elliott would win, but that Mason would have to be careful.

For example : Mason beat Bryan Station by 13 in their first game, and lost by 11th in the last game, at home. (24 point swing)

Catholic is playing very very well right now, and have improved a lot since their last game with Mason.

I hope to see Mason vs Catholic in the finals. Already got my lower arena tickets.

Wireman, I never said that LexCath wasn't #1 in the state.

I know you didn't. Its hard to predict that LexCath will lose after seeing what they've been doing the last few weeks.

If it's a close game, UHA's decision making at the end of the game will likely work against them. They were up 6-8 points in the fourth quarter against Christian County and kept launching shots against a zone defense. Had Christian County not had two players pick up technical fouls and had they hit some free throws, it would be Christian County and not UHA at Rupp Arena.

That said, whoever said depth will be the key is spot on. Hopson and Edmonson are prone to foul trouble and the Blazers primarily play 7-8 players all game.

I think LexCath will pull it out in the end... But Scotty Hopson isn't going to go quietly...

Should be a good one to Kick off the Sweet 16.

Lex Cath is playing better than anyone in the state. I dont think UHA is a good enough TEAM to beat Catholic.

Lex Cath 74 UHA 60

This will be a great opening game, prolly on of the best opening tourney games in recent years, You've got Lex Cath who is on fire right now, against UHA and 2 studs in Hopson and Edmondson, this one will be a nail biter with I think Lex Cath pulling out the victory in the end by 6. See you all at Rupp!

Really?? I don't believe anybody thought Lex Cath could stop Mack yet a mixture of Vee Sanford, Jordan Smart, and Taylor Stewart really seemed to have him rattled some. I'm not saying Hopson can't drop double digits on Lex Cath however he will need a team effort to help him some.

As for Lex Cath, they have to handle the ball well and just keep to their gameplan of mixing inside play with Novosel versus the outside shooting of Smart, Stewart, etc. and the occassional penetration inside of Sanford and Stewart.

INTHESUITE--I think you are exactly right. Those predicting Lex Cath will win by double figures are forgetting that UHA has two big time players in Hopson and Edmonson. I expect a very close game to the end with both teams having a chance to win, but Lex Cath winning by a few points. Should be a great opening game for the tourney.......

I think Lexcath wins this one but I wouldn't be surprised to see UHA pull the upset with Edmondson and Hopson leading the show.

No matter what the caliber of play for LexCath has been recently (and they did lose to CovCath earlier in the year), it's hard to imagine a blowout when you've got 2 guys like Edmonson and Hopson on the other side. I guess we'll see, but I expect a close game if Edmonson and Hopson show up.
