Ben Mauk hasn't given up on his hopes to play one more season for UC. And he's got some news that he hasn't revealed before.

 

According to his father, Mike Mauk, Ben suffered a devastating leg injury before his senior season of high school that continued to affect him during his freshman year at Wake Forest. The Mauk's believe this means Ben should be given credit for being unable to play two seasons because of injury - not just one (his junior year at Wake when he suffered the devastating shoulder injury).

 

His father, Mike Mauk, said Thursday that, based on the documentation of his son's leg injury, they were readying more material to send to the NCAA - which denied Ben's attempt to earn a sixth year of eligibility last month, ruling the redshirt season he took as a freshman at Wake Forest did not constitute a missed participation opportunity.

 

The hope is this newest documentation, which Mike Mauk said could be ready by next week, could sway the NCAA into ruling that Ben Mauk involuntarily missed two years of participation because of those two injuries. This, then, would pave the way for the NCAA to grant Mauk that sixth year of eligibility.

 

"We're going to present it and look at something that the NCAA didn't look at the first time, and we need to make sure they're aware of it," Mike Mauk said. "It's something Ben and I are putting together. Hopefully, we'll know in another week exactly what will happen."

Hasnt he already appealed once and was denied? Now all of a sudden they come up with this that he was injured in high school and effected him at Wake. The sudden appearance of evidence is similar. I wil consent that I am stretching a little, but still...

From a little personal experience...I'd say chances are near zero, if not below zero.
