They run about 20 different timed drills in each practice. 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 is a small part of the grand scheme. He's throwing passes in simple drills and acting as a coach when the other guys are getting snaps.

 

Ben will either get one more year or work as a grad assistant. Either way, it's a win for UC...

^ Oh don't worry I understand how college practices work... What you're telling me is that as far as throwing the ball he is doing the drills and throwing the routes but isn't being inserted when they put it all together.....

Explain, to me. If you are saying they weren't anticipating that he would NEED the medical, I understand, but to me that sounds like a too bad, IMO. If you are hurt and can't go, you should always grab that medical FIRST.

When he got to UC his arm disaster was the medical. The NCAA told them to prove there was his injury at Wake and then a reason he was hurt year 1.

 

Mauk is playing for a big flop on the river. When the NCAA said no they put their cards all on the table. This is watching the final card with major interest...

It could have been a big news day - with UC expecting the NCAA to decide the Ben Mauk case once and for all - but, turns out, we'll have to wait a little longer.

 

BK said he talked to the NCAA Thursday, and it said it would take another 10-14 days to give UC a definitive answer.

 

"They have four to six cases that are sill pending that they have to clear up before they can go back to Ben," BK said. "That was Thursday, so we're thinking, best-case scenario, we're in week three before we find out anything."

 

Seems like there's a little optimism around the program, though. Maybe Mauk actually has a chance of getting that sixth year of eligibility.

 

"All I can tell you is what they said is, 'Wow, you've got medical documentation.' I don't know if you can infer anything there, other than, 'What did you think we were going to send you? Coloring books and crayons?' At the end of the day, it's still about getting those guys ready, and you see that Ben is out there. He knows what we're doing, and he's coaching the young guys. I hope he can play, but if he can't, he's going to be a heck of a coach."

^ I'm with you....NO's tend to come very quickly.....this "wait" is like a "we'll see" which, when I was a kid, alwahy became a yes....and the "maybes" always became a no.
