DragonFire Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Look, I get it. Quarterbacks take a lot of punishment. But come on, 162 games a season for 10+ years? It's Cal.
The Scribe Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Favre's because of two things -- the constant wear and tear on a quarterback compared to a shortstop and the fact that if Favre played the way Ripken did the last two years of his MLB streak, he would have been riding the bench in the NFL
Original Rookie Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cal. One game a week for 16 weeks compared to a 162 game schedule.
Pancake Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cal. One game a week for 16 weeks compared to a 162 game schedule. But it is baseball!!! Farve has the bigger accomplishment! How many years does each of their streaks extend for?

halfback20 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cal. One game a week for 16 weeks compared to a 162 game schedule. That one game a weak is much more brutal than any of those 162 games ever thought about being. It's easy, it's Favre.

halfback20 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cal by a whole lot.. Care to explain how it's "by a whole lot" ?

LHSFAN Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Look, I get it. Quarterbacks take a lot of punishment. But come on, 162 games a season for 10+ years? It's Cal. Its Favre. 17 seasons of getting hit and drilled by defensives, and never missing a game is amazing. Not to mention you talk about the 162 games a year Cal had to play. But you don't take into account all the practices, and film sessions during the week an NFL QB would have to go through, and the mental and emotional toll that would take on someone for 17 years. Both streaks are amazing, however I would take Favre's.
halfback20 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I'm not so sold on that, 162 games in a 180 days is pretty brutal.. It's not as brutal as what Favre went through. Football is a painful sport, and Favre played through a ton of bad injuries. Ripken, like some already mentioned, would play just to keep his streak going, then sit on the bench. Once again, it's an easy choice for Favre.

bugatti Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Baseball players don't practice or scout the other team? They do. But I would say the difference is night and day.
