In your opinion is Coach Hensley going to take the Pikeville job?

 

I can't really say right now.

I know a rumor is just a rumor, but I have been told that Hensley has turned the job down. Don't know if that is turned down an offer or withdrew his name, but that is the info I received this morning.

They just didn't want it to get out so if Hensley didn't take they could say here you go Copley you were our first pick. That way all the up roar:flame:

 

I don't think this really matters. Whether you're the number 1 or number 2 choice, if you applied for the job and want it, you'll take it if offered. Regardless of whether or not you were their 1st or 2nd choice. Personally I believe either candidate will do a fine job, but there seems to be some support from the players for Copley to get it.

 

If Hensley was offered the job and turned it down, I think that is a sad move on his part. Why go this far in the job process and go through the interviews and make trips to the school and then turn it down? Maybe he was lobbying for more support or money from the Dunbar Administration to get him to stay.

I have been for Hensley on this Job the entire time. I really think the two would be a good fit. However, I agree if Hensley is going to stay in the coaching profession he had better stay and lead Pikeville to some success. The Natives are getting restless with all this jumping and applying and all that. Hensley needs to take the Job and prove himself not only for Pikeville but also for Hensley. JMO

Even with the 10-3 record in 2005 he's still 15-20 at a school that should be at least 500. year in and year out and probably a contender every year. True, I don't know all of the circumstances but I just can't see why Pikeville is waiting???? And as far as a good fit????? Well I just don't see that either for a couple of reasons and the first is that he has a losing record at the school he's at...JMO.

Not to mention the fact that this is his 3rd year at PLD and if you look at his coaching record that about as long as he stays anywhere. Im sure he would be a good fit somewhere else. I personaly just dont see it being here at Pikeville. We need a coach who is in it for the long haul. IMO Copely fits that bill better than Hensley does.

While Hensley has been known to jump from place to place pretty often, if you get him around home (i.e. in Eastern Ky) he will be in it for the long haul. While his record is sub-par at Dunbar, this year’s team that he is returning should be pretty good (if he stays). With the exception of Trinity and maybe Henry Clay, they can beat anyone on their schedule. So he's had two down years at Dunbar, so what. He has proven he can win on all levels (10-3 in 2005 at Dunbar[6A], 10-2 in 2004[3A] at E. Jessamine, 10-2 in 2003 at East Jessamine, and 8-4 in 2002 at East Jessamine). And keep in mind that all of the competition that he has been playing is 3A and 6A level (with the exception of a few games here and there). He could easily come in and win the district with Pikeville, and compete to win the region against Hazard next year. I know he has been a lot of different places but the man is about as good of a coach as you are going to find. If he goes to Pikeville, they will be darn good in about 2 years. (They will be pretty good this year.) And if he stays at Dunbar this year, a lot of these Hensley bashers that are on here right now, might be singing a different tune....

The search committee held another interview last night and will announce a hiring possibly early next week.

IMO, It will not be Hensley.

Hensley does have the job. Now, it is just up to him to take the job. He may or may not take it. This is a fact no matter what the staff members of Pikeville say. Hensley would be the best applicant for this job. "Hands Down". The decision now rest on Hensley to take the job.

Any new news coming out of Pikeville? What has been going on the last several days. Will anyone tell?

In the late 80's and early 90's Pikeville was the Notre Dame of Eastern Kentucky Football.

I still have great respect for their program, but I am an outsider looking in and Mike

Jackson an outstanding coach tried to leave the day he got there. Maybe it is time for

Pikeville to do what many successful programs are having to do. (Look at a mans feelings

towards the program and does he have a vested interest if he does not do not look for

him to stay.) (Remember it is about the name on the front of the shirt not the back,

that is what made Pikeville a great football program.) Good Luck

I would take the Pikeville job over Dunbar, right now David has to share the field with everyone at PLD. Pikeville is by far the best place to live in the mountains, IMO.

All the schools in fayette County are in the same boat practice wise..... Lafayette by far is the toughest situation..... the district needs to get them a stadium....

Is Pikeville EVER going to hire a coach? This is like as the world turns.
