Icanscore Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Pikeville High principal says that they are still interviewing next week and there have been no offers made to anyone. This just came on the radio. The announcer from WDHR in Pikeville said that the principal called him personally and asked him to relay the message.
onetoya Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Glad to here that the administration is being thorough in their search. I just hope that the other applicants are aware that the process is still underway. This is a life changing event for any applicant and I would be willing to bet that most of the people who have their name in the hat are on pins and needles to hear Yes or No. Good luck to the Hiring Committee and Administration at Pikeville with getting the right man to lead your storied program!
The Galloping Ghost Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Who is the Hensley guy that was supposedly offered to?
wideopen Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Who is the Hensley guy that was supposedly offered to? He is a Harlan County native and current coach at Dunbar.
Harlan Boy Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hensley does have the job. Now, it is just up to him to take the job. He may or may not take it. This is a fact no matter what the staff members of Pikeville say. Hensley would be the best applicant for this job. "Hands Down". The decision now rest on Hensley to take the job.

So you are saying the job has been offered to Hensley and the Pikeville principal is pulling a fast one?
theguru Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I have another question for Watusi or whoever can answer it, did WYMT news run a retraction on this?
lungbuster Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I have another question for Watusi or whoever can answer it, did WYMT news run a retraction on this? Yes they did on Sports OT last night.
theguru Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 For the record, this whole situation doesn't pass the smell test.
mountainmojo68 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 For the record, this whole situation doesn't pass the smell test.I agree. IMO I place the blame on WYMT. This was an extreme case of bad journalism on their part and the second time in 2 months that Pikeville has been the victim. Back in January they reported that Daniel Harmon had transfered to Lecther Central which was false. Someone better get on the ball over at the station and start tearing some hide or WYMT is going to lose some buisness over this. Its usually a good idea to contact the principal or superintendent to get the official word on a story before you air it instead of taking the word of a "reliable source". IMO this was a "perfect storm" of rumors and circumstances coming together. All week the rumor around town was that Pikeville was holding a press conference to announce the new coach on friday which I knew wasnt true. Then some DOPE sees Hensley at the school doing his second interview and "ASSUMES" that he is being hired and calls WYMT. WYMT doesnt bother to check the story and runs with it in an effort to try to "SCOOP" everyone. Im not downing Hensley I dont know the man. But, the track record speaks for itself this guy hasnt stayed at any school for more than three years. We just had a "Three and Out" coach here and we dont need another. Im not slighting Hensley Im just saying he isnt what the program needs right now.
footballhd Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I see it being Hensley. How many times do you see this happen in college and pro sports and then the next day they announce the guy.
refinstripes Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Pikeville High School is not a college or a professional team. I agree, ymt needs to get the information from a administrator, not a reliable source.
Harlan Boy Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 So you are saying the job has been offered to Hensley and the Pikeville principal is pulling a fast one? They just didn't want it to get out so if Hensley didn't take they could say here you go Copley you were our first pick. That way all the up roar:flame:
