As Cats fans who do we root for?

Featured Replies

I've got a challenge for someone who has the time. Look at the rest of the sec schedule and draw up what the tourny bracket will look like; giving the remainding games and a prediction of how the teams will finish up.

To be perfectly honest, it could benefit UK more if they didn't catch the bye. Ideally UK would win out, but I don't see them beating UT. If Vandy managed to win out and UK just lost that one game, UK would be 12-4 like I want, Vandy would get the bye, and UK would have a shot at more wins to pad the resume.

How do you figure Vandy would get the bye of Kentucky if they both finished 12-4 in the SEC? The Cats and Vandy split their head to head, but the Cats would be 7-3 against the SEC East, while Vandy would be 6-4 against the SEC East. The Cats would get the bye.

The scenario I noted had Vanderbilt winning out (which is what it would take to have Vandy at 12-4 as they're 8-4 now) and UK losing to UT, which would make both 12-4 and both 7-3 against the East.

I would think that we have to pull for Vandy. We have a small shot at winning the East with this scenario. If Vandy wins and we could win @ Knoxville, assuming we beat Ole Miss and win out, wouldn't we win the conference title in the East? I could never pull for the Vols, anyway, just a reason to pull against them.

We need UT to win. If UT beats Vandy, Kentucky is almost guaranteed the 2 seed in the East. That would ensure a bye in the SEC and also put them in the bracet opposite UT and Vandy. Kentucky would have a fairly easy path to the SEC championship game. I also believe that a 2 seed in the east would lock up a NCAA tournament bid.

I wouldn't say the Cats would have an easy road to the finals. If it plays out the way the standings sit right now,Cats would possibly meet up with Miss. St. in the semi's.

Which would not be that bad of a thing at all...

I like the Cats chances for a little payback. But, it won't be easy.

I agree with DragonFire because if we don't get the bye (and lose to TENN), then we can win 2 games in the SEC tourney (the first 2), which will give UK 20 wins, which looks a lot better than 19.

Winning the first game of the tournament won't matter much at all because it will be over a bad team. IMO having 2nd place in the conference looks a lot better than just the 20 wins, and gives us a better chance at the tournament. The committee will have a hard time most likely putting teams behind us in the SEC over us if we are second.

Here you go D IT UP: The way I see the remaining games finishing out is about the way the standings are as of right now, I see no change in the seeds except in the West with LSU becoming the 5 seed and Alabama the 6.

Upper Bracket

(#4W)Ole Miss vs (#5E)S.Carolina with the winner getting (#1E)Tennessee

(#3E) Vandy vs (#6W) Alabama with the winner getting (#2W) Arkansas

Lower Bracket

(#4E) Florida vs (#5W) LSU with the winner playing (#1W) Miss. St.

(#3W) Auburn vs (#6E) Georgia with the winner playing (#2E) Kentucky

Cats would play their first game at approx. 9:45 p.m. Friday night.

You have to pull for UT because Kentucky more than likely isn't going to catch the Vols, and the two seed will be very important for us down the stretch, a bye will help with our lack of depth.

Vandy beat UT then Vols have 2 L's.

Then UK can go into Rotten Flop and beat them and have a chance to win the East. Dont say it can't happen either.

It won't happen.
