I have no hatred for UK. I do, however, get a great deal of laughter over the irrational behavior of its fans.

Duke is Duke though. If losing 6 or 7 games a year and getting knocked out in the sweet 16 every year is a downfall, well they much be doing something right.

 

I'm not a Duke fan, but I don't hate them either. However, they have been to the Final Four 3 times (99, 01, & 04) and won a national title (01) since our last trip there. So yes, they must be doing something right. They've only been to 10 Final Fours in the last 21 years.

Coach K is one of the classiest coaches in the history of NCAA basketball.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: in the "history":lol::lol::lol: I used to think that he had class, I really did and then the more time that goes on the more he proves the exact opposite. His whining, crying around over anything that doesn't go his way is pathetic.

 

I didn't say that it is a rivalry--not once. I've tried to make the point over and over that Duke is the most hated program in the country. The NCAA Tourney games between UK and the 92 defeat in particular cause a higher percentage of UK fans to hate Duke. If Laettner had hit that shot against the 94 or 95 teams it probably wouldn't have been as big a deal. However, the UK fan base named that particular team "The Unforgettables", hung their numbers in the rafters, elected one of them as Commissioner of Agriculture and wanted another hired as Head Coach--they hold a special place in almost all UK fans hearts. Just as Laettner and Duke do, just a much different section. As I've demonstrated it isn't just UK fans that hate Duke and celebrate their losses your own fan base is guilty as well--along with the rest of the college basketball community. But not once did I say that UK and Duke were rivals.

Great post here AJG! You made/posted some absolute great examples. IMO the U.K. hatred on here is hilarious as well. I cannot stand Duke, their coach or his coaching staff (especially little Wo Jo), their fans, anything about them. Do I consider them U.K.'s big rival...NO and I have never said that. I love how some want to group all into the category of a very,very few. Has to something with the pot and the kettle don't ya think? There are two or three on here that are doing the exact same thing as they are accusing others of.............Priceless!

I respect him and the way that he runs his program. I used to think he was a total class--now, not as much. Honestly he's come across as a little bit whiny the last 4-5 years.

Again, I agree. At one time I really respected him as a man with class as well as a great coach. Now?...... A bit whiny???:lol: you are giving the guy too much credit. When he cried and whined around several years ago when he was going to have to play a NCAA regional in Lexington saying that it was unfair - that the crowd would be against them and cheer against his team! Hello... where did you get your frst clue Coach Sherlock "K" :lol:. That was weak and pathetic and I lost all respect that I had for the man at that point. What a statement coming from a coach of one of the best programs in the country.

I am glad that was finally explained, I was beginning to think that some were as bias against U.K. fans as they "claim" U.K. fans are against others. That couldn't be it.

 

So a handful of posts proves what?

And, to be fair, I'm not that bad.

I just like the point a lot showing how Duke has played a handful of non conference road games since 2000, that is crazy.

 

You know what's better than that? They have been to 6 sweet 16's, two Final Fours, and cut down the nets since then....they're A-OK by me.

My dislike for dUKe has nothing to do w/my love for UK. I just do not like them at all!
