He is intimadated by certain coaches and arenas in our little area IMO, Joe IMO is in the top 5-7 in this area but not near as compotent as the 2 others mentioned, I'm hoping the 63rd doesn't get him, Maddix, or Anderson this year.

The officials are picked by KHSAA (Larry Boucher). The number at the State Tournament is between 12 and 15.

They aren't just hand picked at random are they? Doesn't he use the official's ratings by the coaches?

Not always. For example; an official may have been rated number 1 and gone to the state tournament 2 or 3 times in a row. And they will take another official. Not always the numberf 1 or 2. Mr Boucher will always watch those officials work a game to see if he or she is deserving.

I was at the tournament last year and Mr. Billman worked 2 games. And he worked as an alternate at the table in the semifinals. That is not uncommon for a first year official at the state tournament to just work two games. Joe will represent the 16th region well this year.

You could make me believe that before "intimidated". :lol: But in all honesty I think Joe does an incedible job. He could care less who wins or loses he just loves the job, and I know there are people from every school that will dislike a particular referee, and everyone is intitled to their opinion.

I may be wrong, but I think they choose 15 officials statewide. So to answer your question, no, they don't choose officials from all the regions.

No they don't always select officals from all of the regions.

IMO, Marla Gearheart = the best ref in the region. She will do a fantastic job at state.

I know she had Raceland a couple of times and seems like she was the best one out there as far as being consistant on her calls.
