Highlands Baseball

A little trivia ? Who was the last 3 sport star at HHS????

Here is a few of my names:

Randy Stegman

Jared Lorenzen

Derek Smith

All played on Regional Champ and State Finalist Basketball teams.

All played on Regional Champ and Quarter Finalist Baseball teams.

And all played on State Championship Football teams.

And if i'm not mistaken, all three went on to have pretty extraordinary college careers. It just goes to show that at one time Highlands was considered more than a one sport school. I'm not taking anything away from the other sports but i am constantly reminded from outsiders that Highlands is known only for football. Period!!!!!! Good luck and i hope your son is having the time of his life right now, because in 15-20 years he's going to look back and wish maybe, just maybe he could of did this a little different and that a little different. But then again he may not.

Other than Twoles(sp) who else will be on the mound this year. Is Donnie Brown back out this year. Hopefully some other kids step up and help get the job done. What other key positions are returning this season!!!! Where the heck is tdyballgame!!!!!

I don't think you will see Donnie wearing blue and white anymore.

Reller and Popovich will also see some time on the mound along with Towles. There's one or two from the JV squad last year that may turn in some quality innings. Muench should be the team leader at the plate as well as 3rd base. Others in the starting lineup will include Charlie Gold, Terry O'brien, Kody Rosenhagen, and Sam Liggett.

Wow!!!! Really. Huh that's a shame

I heard Sambo has been working on his hitting!!!!! This is really a great young man. Fun kid to watch!!!!

.......why don't you ask Derek Smith if lifting and working out while at and after UK would have helped him reach the next level????

Having well rounded athletes is what coachs should strive for.....you only get one shot at playing sports in HS and it goes by fast.....let them enjoy as much of it as they can.

Coach Johnson is doing a fine job, hopefully he continues to get more kids coming out.

Highlands becoming legit in baseball is good for all of NKY. Hats off to the coaching staff for making it "cool" to play baseball again.

I can tell you that the JV coach has a true passion for teaching. My son will play against HHS yet the JV coach gladly had my son over to the school one day to work on his hitting.

My oldest girl will play for the JV coach this summer on his sons coach/pitch team. He called the other day and ask her to play. What an awesome day that was. We are pumped!!!!!

She will join another girl that's pretty strong on that team.

Just sittin back and giggling. Talked with a person in the know today and he said Tolwes is progressing very nicely. Lots of promise. Could be the sleeper this year as top pitcher. I don't think DB is going out for the team this year. He may be "concentrating" on a few other things this spring.

I did hear though that the underclassmen are very strong and have a lot of potential. JV squad should do very well this year. It might not look like it in the record book, the coaches are more into developing the players than winning. That's what builds a program. Develop them young and properly and keep them interested and they will play into high school and it will show down the road. Just look at the football program.

I watched Thomas, at the MSU Camp this fall and he looked very good. Located very well, had command of pitches and excellent variation of velocity.

The key is keeping them interested!
