Do you wear a "Cross?"

Featured Replies

I want a new one to wear, but I was wondering about you. Do you think it is Ok to wear one? The reason I'm bring this up is due to one of my debates with a preacher who told me "if you gonna wear one, why not wear the Electric chair".

Even though he reconized Jesus dying on the Cross, he was saying that a person can be one of the lowest form of human mankind and still wear a Cross. Some "Lowlifes' wear it as a form of jewelry. "The Cross means a bad thing" he told me.

This debate lasted several days, and I had several verses I used to show where even Jesus talks about the Cross. Luke 9:23 is the best verse.

I do understand the Preacher's point. I saw a man with a beautiful cross around his neck and I stopped him and told him that. He smiled and thanked me. I asked him what was his Faith and he said a devout "Baptist". I said what is your favorite Bible verse/story? He replied. "I can't think of one, I don't go to church anymore". Once Saved always Saved is still on here.

I don't see what is wrong with wearing one. It represents the most important thing that Jesus did- died for our sins, and rose from the dead so that we would have new life.

Then again, I'm Catholic. I am an idol-worshipper. :sssh::lol:

I'd have a charm made with a cross, the number '2' in the middle, and have both on the back of a bear cub. If anyone asks, you're carrying a cross to bear.

Seriously, I think simple is better when it comes to the actual cross.

It also means a great thing, because without it...:fire:

Personally, I think the good of the cross far outweighs the bad.

Hebrews 12:2 says, "...Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross..."

5432, thats right you are. Look forward to trying to "SAVE" you later this spring.:jump:

Is there some sort of test I have to pass in regards to being able to recite a certain number of scripture readings in order to be considered a "Christian?"

Of course not. We only require you to memorize one chapter of the Bible, Psalms 119. And you know how short those Psalms are.

Certainly not if you're Catholic...

I wear a cross. The Archbishop of Canterbury blessed a cross and gave it to me while I was on pilgrimage, but I lost it a few years ago... and Mrs. 02 replaced it for me this past Christmas.

It's, of course, a Canterbury Cross.

Why are you asking this?

Never have. Never will.

.

I used to have a crucifix that I wore.

I see where the preacher is coming from because the cross was supposed to be shameful and embarrasing.

What I think is that for someone to wear one FOR THE RIGHT REASONS (not a fashion statement) it is a great thing.

I find more power in the risen Lord than the one that was on the cross (even though they were the same). The miracle for our lives is that Jesus got off the cross and rose again. An ordinary man could have died on a cross, but a Messiah ascended into heaven.

Nothing wrong with wearing a cross. It represents a symbol of your faith, its like just about every church that has a cross in the front yard or on the wall or on the steeple its a symbol of Christian faith even though some people wear them with no thought for Jesus Christ.
