February 11, 200818 yr I find more power in the risen Lord than the one that was on the cross (even though they were the same). The miracle for our lives is that Jesus got off the cross and rose again. An ordinary man could have died on a cross, but a Messiah ascended into heaven.I think it's better not to just remove Christ from the symbol. Otherwise, all you have left is a geometric figure and it really loses it's meaning.
February 12, 200818 yr I believe crosses are a great sign of Christian faith. I, personally, don't like crosses that have Christ still on the cross. The entire point to the crusifiction was that Jesus is no longer on the cross, no longer dead. A plain cross says all I need it to.
February 12, 200818 yr I always wear my Scapular Cross. Please educate me on what is a Scapular Cross. I used to wear a cross, don't anymore. Not sure why.
February 12, 200818 yr I think that there is an important distinction to be made here. There are crosses, and their are crucifixes. Crosses are made with many variations, a couple of which are shown above. But a crucifix is ALWAYS a cross with Christ's human form on it.

February 12, 200818 yr Actually, that's the point of the RESURRECTION. Should have elaborated more, but I thought anyone on this thread would know what I meant. The cross is directly related to the resurrection. Without one, you can not have the other. The only thing that really matters is that Christ is no longer in the grave.
February 12, 200818 yr I don't see any reason not to wear a cross. It is between you and God why you wear one and if it is for the wrong reason, you will have to face this on judgement day.
February 12, 200818 yr Other than my wedding band I do not wear any other jewelry. I bust watches due to the nature of my job and there is just something about a necklace that makes me feel as if I'm choking. My wife bought me a coin that shows a empty cross in the background with a empty tomb as the main focal point. The back of the coin has this phrase " When God closes one door... He always opens another. " I carry this in my pocket quite often. When the day seems like it is getting out of hand I push my hand in my pocket and think of what my troubles are and what Christ experienced and see mine really are not as big as I thought.

No one could possibly figure out what that cross meant, being the dominant emblem of the dominant religion of the dominant half of the world. Why, I can barely recall what it signified in the first place... Oh, wait, I remember again. (just kidding with you, BF ) I think you might have a point if you wore the cross to convey a message to OTHERS, but if you wear it because of something in your own heart, there is significance if you know what it means to you, plain or not. After all, wedding ands are just a 'geometric figure' but everyone knows what that geometric figure represents. Same as the cross.
