Mad. Southern Interviews

Featured Replies

I agree Trees. That's like the shananigans that is going on at Scott High. Why would people interview, if they didn't want the job? What other profession does this happen in?

Lawfirm Interview:

Applicant:

"I will work hard and be a productive member of the firm..."

Firm:

"Okay, son, welcome to the firm. The job is yours...."

Applicant:

"uhhh...well, actually....let me get back with you on that one...

Yeah, long and drawn out, but I think I made my point.

Not to stir the pot, and not talking about any particular school, but what if you have never been to that law firm before, and after they offer you the job, they give a tour of the building and they do not have a law library, and your office is 8' x 8' with a stool and a plywood desk? You then quickly realized that your current law firm, with a huge law library, a 30' x 30' office with a oak desk and leather chair, is not that bad of a place after all.

Then say no thank you and move on. Do not drag it out forever.

Just because you've not been informed doesn't neccesarily mean everything isn't just fine.

OK thanks for your information.

Geez, people!

A. You apply for the job.

B. You are granted an interview.

C. You are called back in offered a job with a certain salary and under certain conditions.

D. If you want something different, you make a counter offer. Perhaps asking for more control, more assistants, more money, etc.

E. School makes counter offer.

F. You spend a couple days considering counter offer or negotiating.

It's not necessarily the dark, sinister, conspiracy that it is being made out to be. Personally, I would want all parties to take their time and make sure all the right steps are being taken.

This is a high school program, not college, and certainly not the pro's. Yeah if there was only one county school, they may be able to counter offer, but not in Madison County. Since there are two high schools in the county there has to be some type of equilibrium.

What are they going to do, hold a special board meeting to meet the new coaches' requests. Not likely...On the other hand, the College coach could be using the offer (if truly there has one been made) as a bargaining tool at his current placement.

The policies are in black and white....

Who knows.....

Every school, every program, has some leeway. It may not be monetary. It may only envolve control, equipment allowance, who hires assistants, etc., but there is always something to put on the table.

Someone has been offered the job and once again the administration is waiting on him to answer, its still a waiting game. This comes from Crumjr who would know.
A couple of phone calls were made to Madison Southern today. I talked to the people who made them. They informed me that there were told that there are going to be more interviews conducted and that a new coach might be named next week.

Well, that's great. The wait continues.

And Ram, I don't think you were stirring the pot at all. I understand your point, however, and this may just be me, but if I were applying and interviewing for a position, I would have already considered all of those issues like office, coaches, etc., beforehand. Honestly though, from experience, I never really had any kind of wiggle room to negotiate. If the applicant has that ability, and perhaps it is just to negotiate a better college deal like stated earlier, more power to him.

So did the coach from Weslyan turn the job down?

I have no idea. It is my understanding that no coach has been decided on yet.

No they are waiting on the guy from KW to decide. Giving him too long in my opinion, that way if he dont take it the next guy supposedly will think he was the first choice, just the way it works.

When is KW guy going to make up his mind?

Well, the person on the other end of the yesterday's phone conversation must of been wrong. Either that or they were given erroneous info.

I was standing next to one of the people when they made the call. He plainly was told that no coach had been hired yet and that more interviews were going to be done.

Who was interviewed? Who is going to be the new canidates to be interviewed?

Sometimes people do not always tell the truth. I think the job has been offered and they are waiting to see if he can take it. Hard to come there just to coach and sub or be janitor.
