February 1, 200818 yr This math problem had my family and me engrossed at a recent dinner. It's not a trick question. Just follow standard math rules to find the answer. Here goes: "Seven girls are on a bus. Each girl has seven backpacks with seven big cats. Each big cat has seven little cats. How many legs are there inside the bus?" Sounds easy enough, but I have a feeling this might give a few people some fits. What's the answer?

February 1, 200818 yr Author Does the bus driver count? If so, can I change my answer to 1,584? I made that mistake too. I actually counted the bus driver originally, and that was my mistake. Here's a hint: You are WAY off. Hope that helps.
February 1, 200818 yr Author Zero. A bus has wheels, not legs. I guess technically, you are correct. Didn't think of it that way. However, let me rephrase the original question. How many legs are there inside the bus?
February 1, 200818 yr Zero. A bus has wheels, not legs. That's not fair...if the question stats that "there are seven girls on the bus", then it stands to reason that their legs are on the bus.
February 1, 200818 yr 7 girls = 14 legs 49 big cats = 196 legs Let's assume the big cats have 7 kittens each, but have not given birth yet. So that would be 210 visible legs. 212 if you count the driver (and assume 2 legs). Is that fair, 5Wide?
