January 25, 200818 yr http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20080124/SPT02/301240057/ MASON – David Pollack refers to Feb. 8 as “D-Day” in terms of his possible return to the NFL as a player. “I should have all the details that I need to make an informed decision,” said Pollack, a linebacker who last played football Sept. 17 for the Bengals against Cleveland. That afternoon, Pollack suffered a C6 vertebra fracture. He underwent surgery Jan. 3, 2007 to repair the neck fracture. I'll be happy with his decision either way. I know for me it wouldn't be a decision at all. I'd take the money I earned so far and walk away, pun intended. :walk:
January 25, 200818 yr Hard decision for this guy. You know he wants to prove that he could actually be somebody, but he has to think of his health.
January 25, 200818 yr I don't know that I could watch him the rest of his career on every single down and cringe at the thought of another injury that could kill him. Please walk away David. You seem like too good of a person to potentially lose everything for a game.
January 25, 200818 yr On every play in the NFL there is a risk of a major injury. If he's cleared fully, and wants to come back, I'm fine with it...

January 25, 200818 yr Bruschi comes to mind but it scares the heck out of me. I don't know if any of you have seen how bad a lot of these guys legs are once they retire. I can't imainge what these guys with the neck injuries are going to be like 15 years down the road when their kids are wanting to play with them.
January 25, 200818 yr On every play in the NFL there is a risk of a major injury. If he's cleared fully, and wants to come back, I'm fine with it... That's an incredibly shortsided attitude towards this.
January 25, 200818 yr That's an incredibly shortsided attitude towards this. I'm not sure what shortsided means?
January 25, 200818 yr That's an incredibly shortsided attitude towards this. There is a risk for severe injury to every player in the NFL on every snap. Are you going to stop watching???
January 25, 200818 yr Personally I couldnt watch Pollack play again knowing what is just around the corner for him on the next snap.
January 25, 200818 yr I think I heard him say if he came back it would be on a strictly limited basis. No special teams. He would have to be a DE instead of a hybrid LB. Something to the effect of LB's have the big collisions and DE's are doing more pushing and shoving. If he's medically cleared and he and his family are ok with him playing, then I'd be ok too. But I hope he really thinks about it before taking that chance. He'll make a great coach at the end of his career.
January 25, 200818 yr I would hate to see him injured again but that's his decision, and if the Docs clear him then he's just like every other player on the field.
January 25, 200818 yr Not sure if coming back to play for the Bengals is worth the risk. Now if it was the Patriots, it would be a different story.
