I would have to say the stadium is AWESOME. Walton also started a little league program last year so that should help this program in years to come! :ylsuper:

My nephew was here yesterday -- still wearing his 2007 NCKYFL "Road to the Super Bowl" T-shirt.

I think that they just need some time and they will a strong football program, They don't need to try to reinvent the wheel just put a lot of time in the weight room, conditioning and play disciplined football is what seperates the top teams from the rest of the crowd. I heard the were looking for some donors to pay for lights up at the sports complex, if you know of any contact Woody at Walton Verona High School.

Coach McMillan has done an OUTSTANDING job so far and will continue to do so becasue that is the type of coach that he is.

They had a pretty successful JV team last year (4 and 4 or 5 and 4). They also have a Freshman and Jr. High teams and with them now having a youth football program things can only go up. :thumb: All of the coach's that they have working with the kids do an outstanding job. I think that they may actually even stun a few people this year. If anyone has a chance they should come to one of the W-V home games and support a new program getting started and also see one the BEST complex's in the State of KY. :thumb:

Coach McMillen is a classy guy who has learned alot over the years from some pretty good coaches. If I'm not mistaken he played his football under Tom Staley and Glen Wise at Ludlow and then spent a couple years under the guidance of Coach Steve Hensley, without a doubt one of the most quality individuals to coach in NKY in recent years. I'm certain that Coach McMillen learned from Coach Hensley that in order to build a successful program you have to build relationships with your players and your community and reach out to your local youth football program. Coaches earn respect and much like Coach Hensley had the respect of everyone in Ludlow I have no doubt Coach McMillen has done much the same in the Walton-Verona community. I am convinced that Walton will be very successful in a short amount of time under his direction.

They also made a good decision by not jumping into varsity football right away and have taken their time to build the program.

 

Jumping right in is a mistake some other programs have made; right from the start, the kids only learn how to lose and get embarrased which does not attract athletes that may be on the fence about playing football.

Baseball, Softball, Cross Country course, Tennis, Soccer, Football and a track around it. Practice football field too.

 

The WV faithful should be proud of this place.

(Just to clarify: I'm talking about the field.)

They have been playing MS football for the past 2-3 years. This year I believe their MS team is going to join the Kenton County/NKY football league. They have put a fairly good team on the field those years. They also have been playing I believe some of the local areas teams such as Carrol, Owen and maybe Trimble.

WV has a great facility. Got to see it last year when my son's middle school team was out there for a scrimmage with their middle school. Honestly speaking if their middle school team was an indication of what they have done so far with the program -- then watch out -- they will have a great high school program in the future.

Good luck to Woodie, couldnt happen to a nicer guy. He came up and watched Beechwood play in the past got a chance to talk to him.

Woodie is a class act. I wish he was still here at Ludlow. He will do well at WV.

I know that they will be playing Trimble Co, just not sure which week.
