Haven't had this thread for awhile and probably many have added.

For me, it is paragraphs. If it is one big long paragraph I have a hard time reading it and staying focused throughout the whole post.

English wise, when you change thoughts, change paragraphs. :thumb:

What other things can we do to make it easer to read and understand BGP posts?

This bothers me, too...as a fellow teacher, I am sure that you also have students who will turn in writing pieces that are one long, continuous paragraph.

One of my biggest is the misspelling of "receive"...when I see "recieve," I wince in pain.

Isn't that the company that makes wool coats or something like that?

When posting you need to...

Stay on the thread topic and not make unrelated, off the wall comments.:D

If sticking rigidly to the topic was one of the rules, I wouldn't last long. I might have to petition the BGP powers-that-be to change my usedname to mcthreadjack.

This isn't something I need to do, and it's more of a bad habit than anything... But I tend to use ellipses more than I should... See, that's twice just in this post. If I'm actually writing something I don't use them, but for some reason when posting here I find myself typing them repeatedly.

:D

Back to the topic...

To use a certain leading men's magazine's phrasing:

Turn-offs:

Poor grammar, spelling and punctuation.

"Internet shouting" (ALL CAPS).

Overuse of internet shorthand.

Use of smileys when stabbing someone in the back (YOU STINK:D:thumb::D).

The paragraph thing drives me nuts. I've been known to take the official mod crew ice chipper to more than a few lengthy ones. ;)

:D I knew there was a technical term for it...

I have to confess to being guilty of that one on many occasions. But try to catch it when I remember.

I love ellipses...!
