First I want to let everyone know that I am not a Scott County fan or Mason County fan but how come when Mason County loses its because people are sick and their star was on the bench in foul trouble. As to the sickness, something you can't control, but FOULS are something Darius did do and commit. So, its his fault he ws in foul trouble right? Give credit where credit is due. Why always make excuses?

 

I will go on the record and say this. I still believe Mason Co. is the best team in the state. Tonight they may not have played like the best team in the state, but I can tell you this, watch out come March...

 

I know I wasn't making any excuses, just simply stating what happened... that Darius was in foul trouble. And no one made the excuse about being sick, someone just simply asked if Trevor and Russ didn't start due to sickness... that's all. No excuses made here.

I wouldn't say Scott County is the best team without a doubt. Lex. Cath and Bryan Station are playing well right now too. And don't exclude Mason... they may be having some rough games now, but they will be ready come tournament time.

Poor effort from the Royals tonight until they had dug too deep a hole to get out of. Miller in foul trouble (3 of the first 4 Royal fouls were against Darius), 18-32 from the free throw line is a recipe for disaster. So much for the vaunted home-court advantage tonight!

 

I thought the center, #33 for Scott County played a real good game. The point guard, #14 was out of control for much of the first half; Scott County made their second-quarter run when he went to the bench. He did play a much better second half.

 

No excuses from this Royal fan. When you can't make a free throw and your stud plays half the game, you're not going to beat teams the quality of the Cardinals. Better get these games out of your system now!

Congrats to the Cardinals of Scott County,They took control of this game late 2nd and by mid 3rd they had this baby under wraps.They was just more physical than Mason County and took it to the boys in blue tonight.I thought the depth factor weighed in here also as Scott County was a deeper team.I will say this once and once only those Freshman need more PT for Mason as they have earned it.I have eat some crow here as i thought Mason would be ready for this one but they were just not the best team tonight Scott County was by far.Boys no need to drown in your sorrow here as theres a game tomm. Night lets get it turned around.Im surprised nobody as where Phil Barner was for Mason as he was suspended.FT was basically even so no excuse there it was Scott County 35Ft and Mason County 32.Differnce was Ft made.

Sounds like Miller just got ticky tack fouls, not really anyone 'taking it to him'.

 

No, Miller got some stupid fouls. All 5 of his fouls were legit and all 5 were him being lazy. The 3 in the first half were on drives to the basket by Scott County players and him reaching in. The 4th was him lowering his shoulder and running over a SC player in the post. And, the 5th was a bonehead play by him by reaching in with a SC player 20 feet from the basket.

 

I was disappointed because I wanted to see Miller play at his best and see what UK signed. That is far from what I saw tonight. Hopefully, tonight was just a bad night and not a signal that the kid is not as good as advertised.

 

Bottom line -- Even with Miller on the floor, Scott County was BY FAR the better team TONIGHT.

Definatley didn't see the premier match up I had intended to, I have now seen Miller and Hopson play and as far as talent goes (and I know this may offend many) Hopson is as good as it gets (even at 20%)....hopefully this was just a very very off night for Miller Not sure what he was thinking hand checking with three fouls and then four fouls.

 

It looked as if Middleton was forcing things and Setty was not in a grove at all.... With all that said I have seen Scott County multiple times and this was not their best effort either, there guard play HAS to get better if they want to contend for back to back state championships.

 

I also enjoyed the pizza at the game and on a side note I think the Mason Co. Adminstration did a good job at trying to keep the students tamed (other than the fact that the were all dressed as if they were in jail). Looked as if many of the Mason fans took out when they were down 18 in the third....way to early to be leaving a rivalry game! I also thought that around with around 1:17 left in the game the clock was going up rather than down, the bottom line is Mason is going to have to start playing big in big games if they want a shot at the title!

In all fairness to these two kids and this isn't an excuse as if you read my earlier post i said Scott County was the Superior team tonight and not much was going to change that,But these two missed school till Thursday with the flu.
