Thanks for the info. Do refs have the opportunity to request a certain team? Can schools "black list" certain officals. We've seen these 3 so much lately, I swear if they're there tonight I'm gonna barf!

 

Schools can black list and .....refs can request not to go somewhere, doesn't mean their request gets strong consideration.

 

REfs cannot request a game.....all assigned.

Would have loved to saw this game in person! Listened to quite a bit on radio and it appeared Mason Co shots weren't falling. It appeared to me that the Scott Co defense wore them down and when that happens the shots just dont fall!!!!!

I made the trip up to Mason Co. and let me start by saying it was a great atmosphere for a high school game. Just some observations.

 

Miller is a great talent, but Scott Co. was more athletic overall and it showed.

Guyn, while out of control some early really outplayed Middleton IMO. He made some big plays, especially in the 2nd half.

Mason Co. really doesnt have an inside game unless Miller goes down there. Which they don't have to have to win, but it does help usually.

IMO Setty wasn't at a 100% and that hurt Mason Co.

Cam Hundley did an excellent job guarding Miller and the defense did a good job helping in general.

Scott Co's bench gave them a real boost.

 

Finally, I thought both teams had a lot of character. All the players played hard, but were very well-behaved.

Also I watched the JV game as well. There are some great young players coming up. I know that Pawsatt and Setty are great freshmen. Isn't there 3 of them who are freshmen and supposed to be very good? Can someone tell me the other one's name and number?

Also #32 for Scott Co. the Manning kid is an 8th grader. He has a ton of potential. I was impressed by him although he didnt seem to shoot well.

His name is Jordan Gilbert, and I believe he's #20.

Hey, Mason fans, the Royals will be fine. A loss this time of year, can be a learning experience. It is in post season that really counts. I have great respect for your coach and I am sure he will take care of the disciplinary issues and have the Royals at full speed come tourney time. :thumb:

Ditto. Let's keep everything in perspective. In 1966, Rupp's Runts went to the national championship game before they lost to Texas Western. The only two seniors on that team were Larry Conley and Tommy Kron, and neither one were great scorers.

 

The following season, UK--with Louie Dampier, Pat Riley, Thad Jaraz, Bob Tallent, and Gary Gamble--went 13-13.

 

Here is my point. Last year, Mason County had a strong defender and rebounder in power forward Brad Pawset, an effective point guard in Tyreese Scott, and a tremendous sixth man in Tony Browning. In fact, I truly believe that if Browning hadn't gotten hurt in the regional championship game that Clark County might not have won.

 

So, as players like King, Downing, and others continue to progess, Mason County will be fine. And besides, Scott County is good. Most teams in the state would love to have Jordan Lee, Richie Phares, Tyler Portwood, and Cam Hundley.

I guess you missed the jail bird uniforms and the "where's bud" chant....we are talking about high school kids here...that just beat the number 1 team in the state, what are they supposed to do...not be excited? I was waiting for the Scott County fan section to start chanting "we dont need him" when we were up 18 and the Mason fans were chanting "where's bud"......

 

 

I am sorry, but this is extremely low class. Remember, this was directed at a specific 18 year old young man who made a mistake (granted, a major one). How many of the kids in the student section had never in their lives done anything they regretted??

 

And I don't buy the "kids will be kids" argument. Kids grow up into adults. Where were the PARENTS??????

That's true, and Bob Tallent transferred to George Washington, where he had an outstanding career.
