I want to share a small portion of an email that was passed along to me. I know who the author is and confident that they won't mind. But if they read this, I hope they will forgive me. I just feel like these words were too appropriate not to share with Vi's other friends here on BGP.

 

Here it is:

 

Vi "graduated" in 1998 but continued to attend games for many years until her health just kept her from it. However, she always kept in touch with Highlands friends, as she believed Highlands was her family. So many of us know Vi and I would bet that many of your current students' parents also knew Vi well.

 

Last night I visited Vi at the Hospice at St. Luke. Her spirit and mind are still very strong, but unfortunately her body is giving way. Vi is 89 years young and her 90th birthday would be February 13.

 

She just wanted everyone to know that she loves you all and hopes that you will continue the true Highlands spirit when she has moved on. She is at peace with herself and is ready for the next journey.

 

The address at Hospice is St. Luke Hospital East 85 N. Grand Ave. Ft. Thomas, KY 41075.

This is how we must remember her. She's as comfortable as can be at St. Luke East. She looks good for everything she's been thru. She ate a little bit today.... but.....

it's so sad. She will live on in all of us who's lives she touched. She is a SUPER lady.

I heard this morning that the hospice unit had requested that there be no more non immediate family visitors. That right there show you how much someone meant to a school and community!!! A few years back when we moved her from southgate to florence she was as sharp as ever. She had us cracking up the entire time during the move. You want to talk about someone with a ton of Newspaper clippings. It took 1 truck just for that!!!!!:lol: On behalf of my family we want to thank Vi for everything she did for my brothers and i. I will never forget her million dollar smile!!!! Ever:

I'm so sorry to tell everyone, but Vi passed away just a little bit ago. She went peacefully and just the way she would have wanted to. She was in Fort Thomas and all of her many friends stopped into be with her these last few days.

 

She is home now.

The Lord's going to have a lot on his hands dealing with Vi and LSURock fussing over Highlands and Trinity. Heaven just got even a little bit better. Prayers to her family. In talking with them today, they seemed at peace as they knew Vi had lived a truly wonderful life and was loved by thousands.

Sad to hear. Will say a prayer for her family and MANY friends.

This was a story book end as she was back in "her" Ft. Thomas and was able to communicate with many of her friends over the last couple of days. There will never be another "VI". She was awesome. Really happy that she did not suffer too much, as she passed away in her sleep. Visitation will be this Tuesday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. The service will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Everything will be at Christ Church. We are all better for having her in our lives and calling her friend.

So very sad...I didn't know her, obviously, but your stories about this wonderful lady touched me deeply.

Goodbye to a wonderful lady. I'm sure heaven is a better place already. This may be totally inappropriate but I wonder if the cannon has any rounds left over from the Fall. Kind of like a 21 gun salute for our best fan ever.

When the Lord says it's time, I believe you're judged by the life you lived on earth. Were you compassionate to your fellow man? Did you make the world a better place? Did you give of your self without taking from others? In Vi's case, she did all the above. She left HHS, Ft. Thomas, and thousands of students much better because of her love, compassion and spirit. God Bless you Vi. You made everyone that had the fortune to be in your presence feel special.
