What a wonderful lady! Our family will defintely send a prayer up. My wife and I live three hours away from Ft. Thomas and are now in our mid forties and still receive Birthday cards. Don't get the dollar anymore. We stopped by to see her shortly before Christmas and she was still in great spirits. Is she still at her same residence or has she been hospitalized. If she has been could somebody please post an address. We would love to send her a get well note.

From what I understand, she was in St. Luke West for a short time, but has been moved into hospice care. I don't know where though.

She is a wonderful person.

 

Our prayers go out to her and her family.

She is now at St. Luke Hospital East on the 2nd floor in the hospice unit. She was alert today but understood the seriousness of her condition. Her mind is still sharp, but the rest of her body is beginning to fail. She still remembers names of former students as well as their childrens names. She is truely a great lady and friend. I also received birthday cards as well as anniversary cards each year.

Wow...don't know her, however, she sounds like a wonderful lady. Prayers are going out right now.

My wife and I got to talking about Vi last night and remembered a day in 79 when our basketball team was heading to Rupp Arena for the sweet sixteen which we had not participated in for forty or more years. The day before we left Ms. Gerding wore our 6'10" center's (Bob Muntis) size 20 odd shoes all day while working in the cafeteria. I can still remember her shuffling around with those huge shoes wearing the biggest smile you could ever imagine. Don't think she ever walked the same after that day. I also remember her always being their to send a team off in the wee hours of the morning in rain, snow or shine when playing away games even on weekends. Didn't matter if it was football, swimming, or track. She loved all students and didn't care if you were athelete or on the debate team.

What an awesome person, this past football season me and 6 of the old high school gang went to a game at HHS, immediately the conversation turned to sitting on the 50 yrd line and who is now sitting in Vi's seat...the memories of HHS always have Vi Gerding in them somewhere. Prayers are with you Vi. Will love you always!

Prayers from here in "Ramblerville" going up for this lady. Although don't know her I can relate, I can remember some in our school that were like this. Very well thought of by the students/faculy/admin. and commnity as well. People like this are truly a blessing.

Really sorry to hear about her. Sounds like a special lady. I love football and I love kids and I'm feel bad that I missed meeting her.

 

I pray to our LORD Jesus Christ that he gives her what is best for her and to give comfort to her family and many friends who love her. He knows her heart and loves her.

I'm in my late 30's and still recieve B-Day cards from Vi every year with a dollar in it. Greatest Bluebird of all time.
