This certainly can be done. Of course it is totally up to the family if they would like that.

 

There has only been one other person that the cannon has been fired at a funeral and that was for Quinn Stapleton.

 

Firing the cannon for Vi is the very least the community could do and it would certainly be an honor to be able to do that.

My heartfelt sympathies to Vi's immediate family and to her extended Highlands Bluebird family. Glad that she got to celebrate one more HHS state championship before going home.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of such a great person. These are the people that leave a mark and make a difference in our world. Just reading some posts and talking to locals I have learned that this woman was a legend in her own right. May God Bless Her.

Thanks Vi for everything you taught us HHS kids, you were definitely one of a kind, love you always.

As a junior at HHS, back in '82, a long time ago, I injured my shoulder playing baseball and had the chicken wing put in a sling for 5 weeks. At lunch, Vi would carry my lunch tray to my table, everyday. I haven't scene Vi in a couple of years, but everytime I would have the opportunity to see her, she would ask about my shoulder. Not only could she remember my name, but somehow remembered my injury from 20-25 years ago. A truly great human being who looked after all of us, children as she used to refer to us. She will be missed, but we are all better off for knowing her.

Visitation will be this Tuesday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. The service will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Everything will be at Christ Church.

I have a feeling they're going to wish they had a larger facility for the visitation. This was one heck of a popular woman. She was to Ft. Thomas, what Joe Nuxhall was to Cincinnati...and more.

Very sad. She will be missed by many.

I do believe you are right on this, I haven't lived in Ft Thomas for over 20 years and I (along with my sibling) will be making that trip for this patron saint of HHS sports.

I know she probably requested it be held at her church; but I wonder if the community center would've been better suited for what I'm sure will be a large visitation.

I heard as of this morning that the arrangements have not been confirmed. It could be that they are realizing that they may need a larger place.
