2008 Polar Bear Plunge.....anyone jumping?

Featured Replies

Just wanted to know if anyone else from BGP will be taking part in this year's Polar Bear Plunge at Newport On The Levee?

I will be doing so once again this year and have set up a personal account page through the Special Olympics of Kentucky and posted a thread in the Advertising section on here asking for donations.

The Plunge isn't as bad as most people think. If you can get yourself psyched up real easily, then you'll be able to get your blood flowing enough to where you don't feel the cold for a little bit after you jump.

If anyone from BGP wants to come down and watch the jump, please look at the stipulation that I posted in my thread in the Advertising Forum. I think you diehard BGPers might like it. LOL.

You need to start painting up my friend as we have a challenge to all BGP's in the advertising section to meet or beat our challenge. Good Luck. JD

Oh I will most definitely be painting up my stomach area with BGP.com on it.....lol.

I tink the total is up to $160 now and I would look for that to grow even more with the help of the people of this great site and a few other people that I've gotten commitments from to donate as well.

The jump will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 so if anyone from BGP would like to show up to see me jump, I would love to have you there for the support.

Statman, are you nuts?!

It's actually not as bad as you might think it is. Last year when I did it, I honestly didn't start feeling really cold until AFTER I was back in the warming tent they had set up for those that are either getting ready to jump or those that have jumped. The adrenaline carried me for a little bit. I was even slapping my chest a couple times before things started trying to get others pumped about the jump. LOL.

Please video!

In the immortal words of Al Borland,

"I don't think so, Tim."

Where is it at on the leve? I'd like to do this, but don't think I'd have enough time to get everything set up.

It was on video last year and passed through the Athletic Department. Everyone had a good laugh at my expense. But it was all in good fun for a worthy cause though.

I hope nobody tapes it this year! The TV stations were there covering it last year as I think they'll probably do this year so 3W, hopefully you'll have to check it out on the local news stations here in the Cincinnati area when you come up for classes.

Is it for special olympics and do we sponsor you or exactly how do you go about sponsoring this? In other words does everyone plunge for special olympics or is that just your charity that you are taking the plunge for?

The whole thing is to benefit Special Olympics. If you sponsor, you would be sponsoring Statman and his NKU team directly. You can do so by seeing Statman's thread in the Advertising Forum.

Thanks BF, I'll check it out.:thumb:
