January 19, 200818 yr Author Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to those who have donated and who are planning to donate. Each year, the Polar Bear Plunge organizers like to reward those who have raised money for the Special Olympics by giving them some prizes based upon how much money they raise. I currently have $160 donated to my page and another $5 that someone gave me to donate....I'll give that money to the people once I get to the Levee on the 2nd of February. I don't think it's likely for me to get the Carnival Cruise award but if I do, I'm going to see if I have to take it or if I can sell it to someone and then donate that money back to the Special Olympics of Kentucky. $50-$74 Polar Bear Plunge T-shirt $75-$149 T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat $150-$249 T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat Plush Towel $250-$499 T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat Duffel Bag 1 entry for Grand Prize Carnival Cruise Vacation Drawing* $500-$999 T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat Plush Towel Robe OR Fleece Jacket 3 entry for Grand Prize Carnival Cruise Vacation Drawing* $1000-$1999 T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat Plush Towel Duffel Bag Robe AND Fleece Jacket 5 entry for Grand Prize Carnival Cruise Vacation Drawing* $2000+ GOLDEN BEAR STATUS T-shirt Travel Mug or Hat Plush Towel Duffel Bag Robe AND Fleece Jacket 10 entry for Grand Prize Carnival Cruise Vacation Drawing* A custom Plunge Jacket ordered just for you! *5 Day/4 Night Carnival Cruise for two includes an ocean-view stateroom, all onboard meals, entertainment, snacks, complimentary 24 hour room service, government fees, taxes and shipboard gratuities! February 3, 200818 yr Author Thanks for the support everyone. I have some good news about the Plunge and some bad news as well. First for the bad news. When I went to Newport yesterday to go body paint, I checked my checking account to see how much money I had....I wanted to get some Dixie Chili while I was right around the corner (never had Dixie Chili before). Well to make a long story short, the display said that my checking account had been overdrawn. I'm still looking into what caused it to go over because I thought that I had about $50 in there. SOOOOO, I was unable to paint gobgp.com on my chest/stomach area.\ The good news is that I wore my BGP 2007 HS football t-shirt that I bought a few weeks ago. SOOOOO, I was able to get some unofficial pub for the site. I seriously hate that I wasn't able to do as I had promised on here. I was so upset with the situation that I couldn't stomach getting on here last night and having to tell everyone. Please know that I really did intend to do it. I apologize to everyone that donated the money because I was supposed to do it. With everything being said, I was able to jump with some good folks that just so happen to play a sport here at NKU. I'm not sure how our group did in the final standings but every penny will be going to a great cause. It was so awesome seeing some of the Special Olympians there doing the costume contest judging. I know that they really appreciate all that everyone has done for them. All in all, the fine folks of BGP donated $445 dollars to my account. I wholeheartedly thank you for the generosity!!! As far as me thawing out.....LOL.....it really wasn't that bad this year compared to last. The temperature was much better....it was only 8 degrees (-15 with the windchill) last year but this year it was in the mid-30s. I really didn't start feeling cold until I was back here on campus working the basketball games. My outsides were fine, it was just that it felt like my internal temp dropped a few degrees. BUT it was all worth the effort. Once again, I totally apologize for not being able to honor my word but in the end, I did the best that I could. Thanks!!!
February 3, 200818 yr Hey, I think it's great that you came up with a back-up plan! :ylsuper: Did you get any press?
February 3, 200818 yr Author Hey, I think it's great that you came up with a back-up plan! :ylsuper: Did you get any press? Not totally sure. I haven't been able to watch the news this evening. I do know that Christie Dutton was one of the emcees and the channel that she works for was there filming and I think a couple others were as well. There was at least one newspaper guy that was there as well.

I think it's great that you do the plunge at all and it doesn't matter what you have painted on or what you are wearing. The important thing is that you are doing a very good thing for some very special kids. What channel was there filming?
February 3, 200818 yr Weren't cshs81 and HSSB supposed to join you in the Polar Bear Plunge this year?
