On part one, yes, I hate Manning. I'm indifferent about the Colts, however. But since he is the face of the franchise, I will root against them.

 

On your second part, when he retires that will dry up a great deal of the endorsement overkill, as well as all the deification of Manning that we get beat over the head with constantly. He won't be "obscure" in the sense that HOFers like Fran Tarkenton or Roger Staubach aren't obscure, but when the glorious day of his retirement comes, I will welcome it, because his overall profile will diminish greatly.

I wasn't a Manning fan when he was at UT (indifferent to use your description), but I sure like him a lot for helping turn around the Colts, my team (through good and lots of bad) since 1971.

 

I've always liked the Colts (and Orioles and Bullets/Wizards) and had no feelings either way about anyone else, except when they were playing one of my teams. I can understand a little now though because I'm very tired of hearing about the Patriots as the greatest team ever.

 

I hope you're wrong about the game against San Diego, but I'm too superstitious to even pick them in this poll.
