I don't remember Staten doing any pitching.

Craft is a good baseball player, but he is like everone else. There are several other players on that team that is alot better than Craft.

 

Interstesting statement but somewhat off base (pardon the pun). In the games, both high school and Post, that I attended, this kid is one of the greatest assets to any team. Put him in the outfield, at SS, at 3rd, even a few innings on the mound and he does and exceptional job. So if he excels at any position and does his job at the plate (which he also does) how many are better?

I did not mean to step on anyones toes, all I meant to say is that he is no better than anyone else, like Logan and Hienemen and so on. Hieneman can play 1st and pitch, he can also hit. Logan is a great catcher and can hit the ball. Craft may be able to play more positions, but does not stand out at any one position like the others do, like Logan at catching and Hieneman does at pitching.

Well, we'll have to disagree on that one as I like, KCTSU (or whatever), would have to say he is a standout in the SS position.

Can`t go wrong with these three as preseason favorites. They are also gentleman on and off the field.

I just thought I would throw some names out for Lewis Co.: Andy Downing (C/P), Frankie Witten (1st), Cole Cooper (OF), Zach "Knucleball" Shaw (P/SS), and Coty Dermon (OF/DH).

IMO Peyton Martin (Raceland) is the best all-around player in the region. As far as defense goes he has an good glove and above average range for a high school shortstop. However, I dont think he is the best defensive SS in the region but he is still very good. Offensivley he has the speed to beat out throws coming from SS and 3B if he chooses to slap the ball to opposite field (he bats lefty) but he can also drive the ball in the outfield gaps and he has also been known to knock a few HR's every now and then. He is one of the best all around hitters I have seen in this region since Kasey Hamilton (Boyd Co.). I think he is similiar to former Raceland great Thomas Tolliver but with a more size and more power. And I definetly think there will be some schools missing out if they dont take a chance on Martin.

 

I agree RamCat. to me he is the top player in the region this year. He does play shortstop, but I think his natural position would be 2nd base. I think he is definitley taylor made to say....play at a morehead or a marshall. Especially morehead. His lefthanded bat is Taylor made for Moreheads short porch in Rightfield. That's why I would bat him in the 3 hole if Raceland could find another lead-off hitter. He is definitely better than NAIA or d2 or d3. I will be dissappointed if he doesn't get looked at by some of the small d1 schools.

Helping to "fill in the blanks", Rowan Co. has 5 or 6 players back who could all be very good this year: Laken Johnson, pitched and played SS, for Post 76 some last year, hits well: Jason Brockman, P or SS, good hitter; Skylar Adams, P, C, infield, good power; Nathan Miles , great CF, speed, good leadoff man; Nick Duff, LHP, play any position, leadoff type hitter; J.D. Patrick, C, infield, good hitter, can pitch; some others could step up, and there may be some I don't know about.

Not sure he's in the same league as Shafer was , Shafer could do it all , hitting, fielding and what a arm , but is a real good player . Logan from Greenup is another that should be considered for player of year but saying that , there's several that could be added to that list. kstcu has a nice list of area players that any coach would like to have. Looking foreward to seeing and reading about them this season.

Some good young talent at Greenup on the Junior Varsity such as Brad Fyffe, Rees Justice, Bryson Miller, Jarred Moore, and Jordan Perdue.
