Who will be the top pitchers for Greenup this year? I know that Tyler Hieneman will be in that group. But who will follow him and so on?

There's been several mentioned as top players in region but how many of those have what it takes to go to next level. It's very hard to be a student /athlete in any level of college . Hope to see several go on to play on the college level. Best advice to all of them is to work hard in classroom as well as on the field. Hope they all have a great season.

Corey Oney from west is a good pitcher with a lot of potential

For Fairview its Matt Thompson, Clark and Jeff Evans was the catcher.

Is Chip Bailey catching for them this year. I thought he did in the JV games last year for them.

Drew Skaggs, Juan Staton, Kyle Martin, Stringfellow, just to name a few.

 

Is Juan throwing strikes? That used to be his only problem. With Martin, Carver, Boyles,etc is Raceland considered one of the favorites in the 63rd?

IMO Peyton Martin (Raceland) is the best all-around player in the region. As far as defense goes he has an good glove and above average range for a high school shortstop. However, I dont think he is the best defensive SS in the region but he is still very good. Offensivley he has the speed to beat out throws coming from SS and 3B if he chooses to slap the ball to opposite field (he bats lefty) but he can also drive the ball in the outfield gaps and he has also been known to knock a few HR's every now and then. He is one of the best all around hitters I have seen in this region since Kasey Hamilton (Boyd Co.). I think he is similiar to former Raceland great Thomas Tolliver but with a more size and more power. And I definetly think there will be some schools missing out if they dont take a chance on Martin.

I as well agree that Martin might be the best all-around player in the Region, but I feel Gatlin Barker from Boyd Co and Heineman from Greenup Co are right there with him.

 

Must have been a pretty nice youth team with them all on there together, not forgetting about the rest of the nice athletes on there.:thumb:

Juan will be fine. I think his biggest problem last year was nerves. He was put in some sticky situations, but all in all he did well.

Hienamen from Greenup has already signed with a school. I think it was Morehead. Of the four seniors GCHS graduated last year, 3 of them went on to play college ball.

Please tell us. If Peyton isn`t the best defensive infielder in the region...........................who is and where do they play? I for one would like to go watch this kid play.

I wasnt saying anything bad about Peytons defense. He is a great defensive player and like I said the best all-around ball player in the region. I would say that Craft from Greenup is right up there with him defensively and so is Stringfellow from GC. I also like the Wilson kid from Boyd at short. I think Peyton's arm is his only short coming. Dont get me wrong, he has a good arm for a high school short stop but I dont think he has the arm of a college short stop. I see him playing second base in college. He has grown alot since last season so look for more power numbers this year.

Hopefully, Stringfellow will stay healthy this year. I swear, he has some of the worst luck I have ever seen.

Duvall---- Ashland-- I think that is the name of Ashland’s catcher

 

All three of these players have extremely quick bats with power. I think we will hear a lot about the plate appearances of these boys in 2008
