  1. Greenup opens seasong with a big win and plays fleming co. tonight at 7pm at home.
  2. it was like that old song "You Dropped A BOMB On Me"
  3. I agree with you totally MA97. GCHS swept snow off of the tarp yesterday and practiced outside. I know they were outside today also. BC will be fine sure, but out work everyone else? I don't know about that! Has anyone else been on the field yet?
  4. Yes it is necessary because GCHS fans should be able to feel good about all their sports and not just BASEBALL.
  5. Greenup may have a tough time getting out of the 63rd district. This year is going to be different because they are reigning 16th region champs and I would expect for teams to throw their best to try to knock them off in regular season play and tournament play. Greenup was not expected to win last year, but I think it was a credit to the kids for how hard they worked. They practiced long and hard hours in the snow, rain, and sunshine to have a very successful year last year. Last year was no fluke by any means. But this year, it is going to be hard to repeat simply because you are on top starting the year and every team is out to beat them. With the veteran leadership though, I don't think this will be a problem. Players, coaches, and parents know what it takes to win and they are willing to put the time in to do so. Imo it is a great time to be a GCHS BASEBALL FAN. I wish I could say the same for all sports at GCHS!
  6. Greenslate had 14 k's in 7 shutout innings against fleming co. Also if you remember the championship game against ashland he came in and pitched two innings striking out 5. Not to bad for a freshman in regional tournament play. Fleming and Ashland had to beat somebody to get there!!! He also was the starter in the deciding game of the semi-state 7 championship against north laurel and was very successful for 5 innings. Just some food for thought. Greenslate is part of the "SUPER SOPHMORES" along with Staten, Reed, Rice, James, Hardin, Swayne, Robinson, and a few more.:thumb:
  7. Staten 2b Craft ss/3b Logan c Reed Lf Hieneman 1b/p Madden/Rice dh. Martin ss/3b Stringfellow cf. Scaggs/Greenslate rf Pitchers-Hieneman, Greenslate, Martin, Kaplan, James, Rice, Hardin,Vanbibber, Scaggs, Reed, Craft. Great talented team Anxious to see how coaches handle it:dancingpa
  8. Peyton martin is a great player in the 16th! He has a great awareness of what is going on at all times. Great on field presence & know how Billy Logan is as good of a catcher as I have ever seen and I hAve seen a few over the years. Great receiver, excellent at blocking and calls the game according to his pitcher. GCHS pitchers got to like that Martin & Logan are two of the best hitters in the 16th hands down. Martin can fly around the base paths. Fun to watch these guys Hieneman is an outstanding pitcher also. Very polished pitcher. Big time performer in big time situations. He has a very good resume from past situations. My preseason top 3 for player of the year in the 16th.
  9. I agree also with you. Coach Logan raised these boys on baseball. Zach Stringfellow started varsity as freshman, Tyler Hieneman started regional championship as freshman, Eric Craft was utility player on varsity as 8th grader, and Billy Logan was the varsity starting catcher as an 8th grader. Austin Wright also played for Coach Logan along with Rister, Scaggs, Martin, and the list goes on. Billy Logan, Zach Stringfellow, and Austin Wright were TRI-MVP'S of the semi-state. What an amazing series for those guys.
  10. :ylsuper: No matter how long Coach Logan stays, He made a committment to this team early on by practicing outside in the snow and sub-freezing temps and I don't think McGlone was able to do that. McGlone wasn't able to deal with parents maybe from a lack of inexperience. These boys and coaches have worked their tail off to get where they are at today, and it isn't any fluke that they will be playing at Applebee's Wednesday night.
