With the writers strike causing most scripted shows to run out of episodes sometime this month or next I'd say it is almost a sure thing that we'll see the first full season anyway.
January 7, 200818 yr It was fun to watch, but as HT said, not what it used to be. Really funny, though! Not as good as it used to be but not to bad. I say it ends up making it for about a season, how many ever episodes that is. It wasn't as exciting as the older ones. These gladiators really suck and it just doesn't pack the punch it used too. I think the nostalgia factor will get it one full season at least but I have to agree with the top two quotes here. When we were watching it I was telling my friends that most of the events that they had from the old one weren't even near as big as they used to be. The section for the rings in Hang Tough used to be MUCH bigger. Powerball they made the holes for the balls too big and made the overall area smaller with less space for the contenders to run through. I really couldn't stand tha taunting and the interviews for the most part. They were insipid and I really don't want to hear about their "inspiriation" right after an event. I don't mind their introductions at the beginning of the show, but I don't want to hear them much more than that. That said, the Gladiators seemed borderline incompetent in half of the events. The female gladiators in particular seemed inept, the second episode they just got straight up dominated. Outside of Titan and Wolf I don't think the male Gladiators were that good either. Of course the whole gimmicky "character" stuff I think is not needed. Toa dancing like a Samoan warrior or Wolf howling, seriously this is not the WWE. Why all the water? I do have to say I like what they did with the Eliminator, it really evens things out. Chad actually had a chance because of it, I was shocked.

You realize this show ran for years back in the late 80's and early 90's too, right? The nostalgia value for people who watched it back then will get it 1 full season if not 2. Their biggest problem is turning it into more of a reality TV type show, which is agitating me to no end.

What I don't get is the world is falling apart because we have now realized that baseball has taken a major hit because of the juice but people let it slide in this sport...if you want to call it a sport.

This isn't a sport at all. Yeah it involves some athleticism but these are just individual contests, it's not a sport. I don't give a rat about what's going on in baseball anyway. I have more or less ceased caring about it. People who's worlds are falling apart on account of that kind of thing need to learn to stop breathing. That will make things easier on the rest of us.

Like during assault when the gladiator would shoot the tennis balls, the camera would kind of jump for effect, and they were doing so much switching that I couldn't hardly follow it.

They also added sound effects for one of the new events too, can't remember the name, the one where the contenders run back and forth on the bridge then have to dodge the huge balls the gladiators throw at them.
