January 4, 200818 yr I HATE the rest of the teams in the AFC north... but I LOVE the SEC. To me it is a regional thing. I am the same, Pittsburgh all the way and I hope everyone else loses. I am also a Penn St. fan, but I don't care either way about the rest of the conference.
January 4, 200818 yr Pep, here is my answer: I think that the SEC is most competitive football conference, I just think that the SEC, from top to bottom, is the strongest conference. That is it. I don't have any loyalty to the SEC. I do root for UT, and I like it that UK is now going in the right direction, but I admire the SEC for what it is. I don't necessarily root for SEC teams, other then UT. Plus, I never really got on the "Best Conference" kick until I saw so many people fighting about it on here, so I just throw some gas on the fire.
January 5, 200818 yr It's like when you picked on your younger sibling as a kid, but you would fight anyone outside of the family that tried to do the same. This is exactly how I feel about it.
January 5, 200818 yr I don't get it either. At the Music City Bowl the UK fans started canting "SEC, SEC, SEC" and I didn't understand it. I hate every other team in the SEC...especially when Kentucky is playing them. I guess the only reason I would even consider wanting another SEC team to win is to make UK look better... I can see them doing that in the bowl season because besides being KY vs FSU its also SEC vs ACC. In the bowl season you not only represent your school but you also represent your conference against another.
January 5, 200818 yr Exactly :thumb: You are a UK fan. Assuming you have no strong allegiance to the Bucks in the national title game, who are you going to root for? LSU: The team UK beat earlier this season? (Which will make UK look better if the Tigers win). or tOSU: Which would diminish UK's earlier victory over LSU. I'm rooting for LSU because I have developed a hatred for anything inside the state of Ohio. *Other than Kings Island, and the occasional UFC event*

January 8, 200818 yr It must be a southern thing... And for the second consecutive season, Ohio State got overwhelmed by its opponent. Throughout the second half, the three letters chanted by the purple-and-gold-clad fans in the dome were not "L-S-U!" but "S-E-C!" Fittingly, a two-loss team is champion this season
January 8, 200818 yr For what its worth, at last years Music City Bowl, I had seats right by where the players enter the field and Wesley Woodyard was giving the team a pep talk and said something along the lines of "Lets show em how we do it in the SEC" before they charged onto the field.
January 8, 200818 yr Actually it is even more slanted in the ACC during basketball. I will watch Dukie fans and UNC fans come together to root for the other in the tourney. That's enough to make anyone sick. The lesser ACC programs really do this a lot. VA fans and Clemson fans root very hard for Tar Holes and Devils when the tourney's begin.
January 8, 200818 yr ^ That's quite odd, because I've never seen a UNC fan cheer for Duke in any way. From what've I've seen and heard UNC & Duke fans despise one another.

January 8, 200818 yr ^ That's quite odd, because I've never seen a UNC fan cheer for Duke in any way. From what've I've seen and heard UNC & Duke fans despise one another. I live an hour from tobacco road and while they do not like each other I have seen long time fans of each pull for the other in the tourney. When the other wins it or advances or beats somebody of note they seem to relish in the ACC label. In '95 when KY was defeated by UNC I had a fan rub it in to me. "you guys just can't beat the ACC." When I asked why a Duke fan cared he replied, "I don't like them but they are in the family."
