I don't think he is a disaster, but I think he better pick it up or it's going to get bad. UK fans were not happy with Tubby winning 22 games, Billy G is on track to win less than 20.

Well, I should have specifed, "Tubby Lovers" always found excuses for him. Everyone else knew better.

What say you...how long? I mean, it's not like he inherited a team with national title aspirations and finished .500.

 

Hypothetically, suppose Coach A (or Coack K, if you wish) did inherit a team that was looking at a potential national title and finished .500. How long should he get?

 

Conversely, one who inherits a depleted roster, then suffers injuries to two of his best players and struggles as a result...shouldn't he get longer? :lol:

 

I didn't say he was a bad coach, or should be gone, as I didn't say that with Coach K either. I think both are good coaches who got dealt horrible hands. Granted U of L's was much more hidden. That said, Louisville's fans were out of hand....but UK's are border line insane about this stuff....it could get just as ugly or worse.

It's his first year. Give him time to build a program back up, that so many of you say was left in "shambles." He can't play defense, he can't put the ball through the hoop. Give him time to ge the players "he" wants and not ones that he was given. I look for a turn around because next year with Miller, Liggins, and Washington coming in Porter and Coury will ride the pine.

Mark Coury isn't that bad guys. Against Central Arkansas he played 36 minutes and scored 13 points, both season highs. He also had 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a blocked shot. Since then the most minutes he has played has been 22.

WHile he plays hard if you have to start Mark Coury you have problems. Coach Gillispie has been pleasant with me every time I have bumped into him. Coach was given a lazy group of players to work with, and is probably why we're not seeing playing time for some we think we should. While Holsopple came in last year and got the guys stronger he did very little to increase their basketball shape. He was a weight guy and it showed. I guarantee you the practices and conditioning the players are seeing this year is far more than they've seen in their careers. Billy is putting in his systen, which is much tougher than Tubby's was, so it will take awhile.

Billy Reed is now a tool in my book. He's entitled to his own OPINION, though.
