Mason County's Setty

Featured Replies

Really wow!! I always thought it looked like Darius had a little height on Trevor. Oh well though they are both taller than me and will both play college basketball.

Yeah, if you check out their team picture this year (which by the way, has a very impressive back line...10 guys, none of them shorter than 6-2...looks like a college team!), Trevor stands justthismuch above Darius. Trevor's younger brother, Treg, is just below the two of them. And he's still a freshman yet!

To answer an earlier post, I don't believe the elder Setty shoots too much. That is to say, he doesn't generally force shots, he usually only lets fly when he's open or the play is designed for him.

Wasn't Pittsnagle a 7' 1" , about 280 lb. center???????? Interesting comparison--Setty is what about 6' 4" and 185 soaking wet???? Nothing against Trevor--nice player, but where did this one come from??

Unless he improves and gets much bigger, no way he's a Big East player??

Setty is taller than 6'4', however you still cant compare Setty to Pittsnogle :thumb:.The only similarity they have is that they are both shooters. If thats the case then you can compare Setty to tons of other players. Pittsnogle was effective in the Big East because he was a 7 footer that could shoot, Setty doesn't have that luxury. I think Setty could be a project for Huggins, bring him in put some weight on him and see what he can do. I would say at least by his jr. year he could see significant minutes

I think he he's a little taller than 6'4", he's a lot closer to Darius' height than you would think, and also I just mentioned similiar type of game, nothing about their physical apperance.;)

As I stated earlier I don't think their games are very similar, besides the fact they both can shoot. Pittsnogle played downlow a lot and would drift out for his shot.

For some reason when I think of a Setty-like player Kyle Korver from Creighton who is now in the League comes to my mind. Setty's shot isn't near as polished as Korver's but there both big guard/forwards who can shoot and handle the ball.

Similar height, but Korver was a lot bigger; and along with J.J. Reddick was one of the best recent shooters to come out of the college ranks. Please don't read any disrespect to Setty into this, but comparisons to Kyle Korver are simply unfair to the kid at this point!! He'll be a fine collegiate player at some level, but you're comparing him to one of the great D-1 college shooters of the last 15 years, maybe ever!!

Thats last year's (06-07) team photo.

Either that or Mason County has some guys with eligibility left that we didn't know about...

He almost had him last year!! haha..

haha:lol::lol:...

I see a ton of comparisons on this thread. I would like to join in and start comparing but it's very difficult due to Trevor's build. Trevor is a great shooter but I can't remember any of the great collegiate shooters (Reddick, Korver, Lofton, etc.) coming in their freshman season being so thin. I also think, however, that Setty's strength is very underrated as he tends to get some key rebounds and three-point plays in situations in which they are needed.

As for the WVU rumor, I wish I knew more but my best guess right now is that it is just that, a rumor. Physically, I can't see him competing in the Big East until at least his junior season and I can't see Huggie Bear recruiting a player who needs two years. I really think he's an in-betweener. I would think a D-1 school would offer and not just NKU or Happy down in G-Town.

Also, I am with others who think Middleton should have waited to sign. I think he may be playing out of position. To me, I think Russ would be a really good slasher at his height at a mid-major. He has mad hops and could come off screens and shoot that sling-shot from the corners and wings. I would love to see him at the two a bit more.

So Darius should shoot the ball more than what he already does? Darius almost averages 30 points how many more does he need? One of the good things about T Setty is his passing ability. I dont get your logic.

I said in the game verses Cov Cath not as an average!:thumb:

I wish the best to T. Setty in his future. I have seen him play a few times and he seems to be a very solid player. A free education is a lifetime reward. Good luck to Mr. Setty.

Setty is a good player, but needs a lot of time in the weight room.

Supposedly Louisville scouts were at the game Saturday against Bishop Brossart and then NKU scouts were at game Sunday against Montgomery Co. NKU would be a good fit for Setty. Best of Luck.
