December 10, 200718 yr Seriously. I have a shooting burning pain up the right side of my left leg. it goes from my calf to halfway up my hamstring. Its been going on since friday. It hurts the worst right when I stand up from sitting down. I have no idea what it is, and I was wondering if anyone had any idea. If I had to guess something, I would say a pinched nerve, because it is a concentrated pain to what would feel like a nerve, and its a kind of sensation that I could imagine would be involved with a problem in a nerve, but I honestly have no idea. Anyone?
December 10, 200718 yr Not sure, but you best get it checked out. It could be something serious like a blood clot.

December 10, 200718 yr How common is that for a 19 year old? Go to the doctor. Don't get your suggestions on here. There are a lot of things not common for someone as young as you are but only a doctor will be able to give you the attention you need.
December 10, 200718 yr How common is that for a 19 year old?Don't know. I'm not trying to scare you, it may be nothing but it would be best to have it looked at. Did you injure the leg recently?
December 10, 200718 yr Author Don't know. I'm not trying to scare you, it may be nothing but it would be best to have it looked at. Did you injure the leg recently? No. I've been rather inactive lately due to a foot injury, and I've been studying for finals. Thursday and friday of last week, I biked, rather intensely, for a half hour each time, and that was the first real activity I'd had in a week or so. I think it may be connected to that because it started after that. Its not real real painful, but it sure is weird, and I'd like it to go away. I have to wait till tomorrow to go to the doctor, they're closed. I was trying to get any feedback I could in advance.

December 10, 200718 yr It sounds like a pinched nerve. I would venture to say that you have a bulging disc on your lumbar spine that is pinching on a nerve. I would definitely get it checked out though.

December 10, 200718 yr Is there anything that can be done about it if that's what it is? I had a similar problem for the last few months...I have been going to the Chiropractor...it has really helped me. It was actually in my back, but caused my leg to hurt.

Sounds as if you had a problem with the sciatic nerve, aka ischiatic nerve. It runs from the lower back into the leg area. It is the largest single nerve in the body.
