To be clear, I am asking what affects us as a nation and not which issues the govt needs to get involved in. I'm talking about it at the personal level.

Oh, OK, I misunderstood. In that case, I'd have to think about it some more.

I assume I also speak for LBBC when I say that we believe it is a sin based upon what is written in scripture (along with sex outside of marriage and any number of other things), and that we believe that to be inerrant.

So in general, how do you determine what is a sin when not explicitly defined in scripture? Additionally, why does someone else's sin concern us when we are commanded to love?

We learn from history that we learn nothing from history. - George Bernard Shaw

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. - George Santayana

We are quickly becoming the Roman Empire -

Taking in too many immigrants and not making be come American - speaking English etc.

Corrupt, money and power hungry, fat-cat politicians.

Acceptance of homosexuality, even embracing it.

Not looking good for this country at all............

Might also add that Christianity was the "official" religion and state endorsed faith of Rome.

Hate to say it too but homosexuality was practiced widely by the Romans and Greeks when they were at the Height of their power, not just at the decline.

Those cause and effect cliches don't really hold up to the real reasons. I'd be more concerned with the notion that Rome was over extended as most empires tend to do. Not that we would ever do that mind you.

I think its our job to point out sin in others. Unfortunately, most Christians are lousy at doing this in a loving, empathetic manner.

I blame it on T and X football.

Nope. It's those Highlands fans that are to blame. Haven't you seen the thread about those $5 kisses?

Why does Paul say that "everything is permissable"?

"Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial"

I don't know the exact reference, I will try to look it up later.

The bolded answers your question.

I can hit myself in the head with a hammer. That is permissable, not too beneficial though. Everything we can do is not good for us.

Because sin leads to eternal death.

And it is the ultimate sign of love to not want others to have eternal death.

Give an example of a sin that is not defined in scripture as a sin?

Because sin leads to eternal death.

So what did Jesus come for again? It certainly wasn't to make people stop sinning.

And it is the ultimate sign of love to not want others to have eternal death.

Nothing says love like exile and scorn.

I think it would be easier for you to list all sins outlined in the New Testament.

I disagree.... I am not without sin, therefore I refuse to cast any stones...

So you are saying I can sin as much as I like and it doesn't matter. I can lie, steal, cheat, murder and for the eternal aspect of it, doesn't matter.

I disagree on the latter, I find very few things that have not been covered in the Bible.
