December 4, 200718 yr I am not gay. I personally have nothing against gay people. Is it against God's will, yes. But God allows for the human body to develop freely. That said, there are gay people that chose that lifestyle and those, that "were born with it", I mean that they literally feel like they have always been gay. Now that may be due to up-bringing, or whatever. That said, I feel the Bible's teachings and God's words are for ME as an individual and with my family. I am not responsible as to how others follow God's path. I will condemn a gay person, or look at them in a bad light. Some of the absolute best people I know are gay, and I know quite a few. Is being an absolute best person what gets you into heaven?
December 5, 200718 yr Is being an absolute best person what gets you into heaven? Does being gay keep you out?
December 5, 200718 yr Does being gay keep you out? I think not repenting of a sin and trying to run from it pulls into question whether you ever truly accepted Christ in your heart. I struggle with certain sins and don't repent from them as much as I would like. If you accept Christ and continue to live the same old sinful life and never try to repent of your sins, you need to examine whether you truly accepted Christ into your heart or just stood up front and said some words and took a bath. Jesus said that they will know us (His followers) through our works. Does people know Christ through LBBC's works. If they don't maybe I have not really accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and need to examine my commitment to Him. It seems I am not answering your question, but I am. It is no different than any other sin, whether it is lying, stealing or adultry.

I look at it a bit more different...in that when you are in front of Jesus Christ to answer for your sins, if you are truly remorseful inside than all is forgiven...even Saddam can be in Heaven.

It is no different than any other sin, whether it is lying, stealing or adultry. We agree that homosexuality is a sin. We also agree that there are not degrees of sin, just sin. It may be that homosexuality is as tough to overcome as drug dependence, alcoholism, sexual addiction, or any other number of ruinous sins. However, you and I know that there will be alcoholics in heaven, just as there will be homosexuals. As with ANY sinner, there is a time for intervention, and there is a time to back off. Prayer is the key, but certainly not condemnation.

December 5, 200718 yr How are you certain what is a sin? I assume I also speak for LBBC when I say that we believe it is a sin based upon what is written in scripture (along with sex outside of marriage and any number of other things), and that we believe that to be inerrant.
December 5, 200718 yr As you know, I am very libertarian when it comes to government intervention. I don't like it much at all. To be clear, I am asking what affects us as a nation and not which issues the govt needs to get involved in. I'm talking about it at the personal level.

I don't know exactly what inerrant means but the rest sounds :thumb::lol:
December 5, 200718 yr Is being an absolute best person what gets you into heaven? Matthew 25: 36-41 says that the sheep who are going to heaven are those that treated "the least of these" the best. It says nothing about what you believe - no dogma, no doctrine - just love
December 5, 200718 yr Matthew 25: 36-41 says that the sheep who are going to heaven are those that treated "the least of these" the best. It says nothing about what you believe - no dogma, no doctrine - just love Yes it does, but I assume there is much more required to get into heaven than "just love". I don't think you can take one quote and make the assumption that dogma and doctrine, and, I assume as you believe, organized religion are all wastes of time. Sorry for taking it off track.
December 5, 200718 yr Matthew 25: 36-41 says that the sheep who are going to heaven are those that treated "the least of these" the best. It says nothing about what you believe - no dogma, no doctrine - just love Treating the least of these, wouldn't that be a doctrine? A dogma? So, once again we get to your point that ends up meaning the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is meaningless. If I simply love my neighbor and make heaven than why Jesus' sacrifice?

Why does Paul say that "everything is permissable"? "Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial" I don't know the exact reference, I will try to look it up later.
