December 4, 200718 yr What about children raised by gays? Do they have an increased probability of becoming gay? Logic would suggest that if this is true, children of straight parents have a higher probability of being straight.
December 4, 200718 yr Logic would suggest that if this is true, children of straight parents have a higher probability of being straight. Thats already a fact.
December 4, 200718 yr What about children raised by gays? Do they have an increased probability of becoming gay? I have no statistics in either direction, but my guess would be no. I would also guess that most gays are the offspring of heterosexuals. I would also guess that it would be very hard to get reliable statistics. I would expect that people raised by gays would feel more free to express their true nature.
December 4, 200718 yr Add in children sexually abused? No one should be raised by a sexual abuser, gay or straight. It is also a completely different subject.

I would also guess that it would be very hard to get reliable statistics. I would expect that people raised by gays would feel more free to express their true nature. I found the bolded interesting. People of other sexual inclinations, why is their inclinations not their true nature. Is it acceptable and okay for people with anger issues to act on those anger issues. To yell and scream at others and "express their true nature?"
December 4, 200718 yr So where do you find this in the New Testament? And where do you find the power or right to judge in the New Testament? Are you not called to love everyone? We are called to love the sinner, not the sin. Remember the woman at the well (prostitute, if I remember correctly)? Jesus told her to go and sin no more. He loved her, but He didn't want her to continue in sin. As Christians (and non-Christians) we can love homosexuals, but not their sin. Hopefully they would "go and sin no more."
December 4, 200718 yr What about children raised by gays? Do they have an increased probability of becoming gay? According to studies, girls raised by lesbian parents are more likely to experiment, but report no difference in the rate of homosexual identification as adults. For the record, all of the kids I knew growing up who 'tried it on for size' were the daughters of heterosexual parents. And they went to all-girls schools. If you're concerned about experimentation, I think that would be a place to look first.

I wasn't suggesting genetic cause, only environmental cause. No one should be raised by a sexual abuser, gay or straight. It is also a completely different subject. I think what LBBC is trying to say is that many gays grew up in abusive homes, and not necessarily sexual abuse. It would indicate that environment has a definite influence on sexual orientation.
December 4, 200718 yr No one should be raised by a sexual abuser, gay or straight. It is also a completely different subject. Never said they should. Just from my experiences, those who I personally know that practice an alternative lifestyle have some parental abuse issues, either physical or mental.

To add to the bolded post, NO DIFFERENT than what we try and do everyday. This is NOT to say that Christians have it figured out and holier than thou. We screw up and try to sin no more too.
December 4, 200718 yr Thats already a fact. No, it's not: Future of Children Second, there is no evidence that children of lesbian and gay parents are confused about their gender identity, either in childhood or adulthood, or that they are more likely to be homosexual. Evidence on gender behavior (as opposed to identification) is mixed; some studies find no differences, whereas others find that girls raised by lesbians may be more “masculine” in play and aspirations and that boys of lesbian parents are less aggressive.19 Finally, some interesting differences have been noted in sexual behavior and attitudes (as opposed to orientation). Some studies report that children, particularly daughters, of lesbian parents adopt more accepting and open attitudes toward various sexual identities and are more willing to question their own sexuality. Others report that young women raised in lesbian-headed families are more likely to have homosexual friends and to disclose that they have had or would consider having same-sex sexual relationships.20 (Just how to view such differences in behavior and attitude is a matter of disagreement. Where conservatives may see lax or immoral sexual standards, liberals may see commendably open-minded attitudes.) From FOX NEWS • A significantly greater proportion of young adult children raised by lesbian mothers than those raised by heterosexual mothers say they have experienced sexual intimacy with a partner of the same sex. They were not, however, statistically more likely to identify themselves as gay or lesbian.

I made no insinuation about gay parenting.
December 4, 200718 yr Author Nine of the ten are mentioned by Jesus in the New Testament in Matthew 19. The only one is keeping the Sabbath. So the ten commandments are Ok except the one. We don't shutdown on friday and start back on saturday nite. The old law was no longer needed...Moses. We have new law under Jesus Christ. In the old testament people carried animals and gave them to God as a sacrifice at the altar for the forgiveness of their sins. We don't do that today, thats where Jesus comes in. Matthew 5:17 Jesus says I came to abolish the law. In Galatians chapter 3 Paul talks about the law under Jesus. Even Peter went back to the old jewish ways and was told to repent. This is off the topic somewhat, but y'all asked. Its in the bible check it out.
December 4, 200718 yr Could the growth of the gay population in Louisville or other places reflect on good qualities of that city. If gays feel they will be treated better in certian places, can't we also infer that people of other nationalities will generally be treated better in those places as well. What about people with physical and mental disabilities. Shouldn't those people also believe they will be treated with more equality in those places. Regardless of how you feel about homosexuality, if the reason for the growth is due to positive issues, it can't be too bad can it? I would add, that if people move to an area because of the percived respect they could get, wouldn't most people return that respect, even when you disagree with their position.
