Gay Growth

Featured Replies

My "fact" was that more straight kids than gay kids come from straight parents. I made no insinuation about gay parenting.
You've misread what you quoted, if that was your intent. That post included the word 'probability' and you're talking about raw numbers.

So are you saying that straight parents produce a higher percentage of gay children than straight children?

Could the growth of the gay population in Louisville or other places reflect on good qualities of that city. If gays feel they will be treated better in certian places, can't we also infer that people of other nationalities will generally be treated better in those places as well. What about people with physical and mental disabilities. Shouldn't those people also believe they will be treated with more equality in those places. Regardless of how you feel about homosexuality, if the reason for the growth is due to positive issues, it can't be too bad can it?

I would add, that if people move to an area because of the percived respect they could get, wouldn't most people return that respect, even when you disagree with their position.

I blame it on T and X football.

:lol:Sorry I couldn't resist. I don't really mean it. Just thought it was funny cause they always seem to get all the blame for everything.:lol:

Nine of the ten are mentioned by Jesus in the New Testament in Matthew 19. The only one is keeping the Sabbath. So the ten commandments are Ok except the one. We don't shutdown on friday and start back on saturday nite.

The old law was no longer needed...Moses. We have new law under Jesus Christ. In the old testament people carried animals and gave them to God as a sacrifice at the altar for the forgiveness of their sins. We don't do that today, thats where Jesus comes in.

Matthew 5:17 Jesus says I came to abolish the law. In Galatians chapter 3 Paul talks about the law under Jesus. Even Peter went back to the old jewish ways and was told to repent.

This is off the topic somewhat, but y'all asked. Its in the bible check it out.

And Jesus also quotes Deuteronomy and Leviticus as laws to follow, as does Paul...

OK, I got you.

CC left off the last part of his comparitive phrase, and we've taken it in different directions.

In either case, the research says its a moot point.

So I have to ask, has there been a sudden surge of gays moving into the Lousiville area or have people just started being more honest on government surveys?

Yours is the ONLY post which indicates that there is a difference.

I merely asked the question.

If gay parents produce a higher proportion of straight biological children than straight parents produce, that would seem to indicate that the "homosexuality is genetic" theory is bogus.

I posted this before you edited your post, so I think we're on the same page now.

We are called to love the sinner, not the sin. Remember the woman at the well (prostitute, if I remember correctly)? Jesus told her to go and sin no more. He loved her, but He didn't want her to continue in sin.

As Christians (and non-Christians) we can love homosexuals, but not their sin. Hopefully they would "go and sin no more."

That would be true if you ignore the fact that you aren't Jesus and don't get to decide what is sin and what isn't. Then he died to forgive sins, not to create more judges.

This is from the census bureau on "Same Sex couples".

The whole reason this came up was an article in the NYTimes describing the gentrification of historically gay enclaves in places like San Francisco.

The big difference today is that you're gay and growing up in rural Kentucky, you don't feel like you HAVE to go to San Francisco to be open and accepted, you can go to a city closer to home.

Ram, when Jesus quotes from the old testament I believe its ok. I gave that example in Matthew with the commandments. I'm not saying do away with old testaments, just under a new law. Galatians chapter 3 and also Hebrews 7/10 chapters.

I found the bolded interesting.

People of other sexual inclinations, why is their inclinations not their true nature.

Is it acceptable and okay for people with anger issues to act on those anger issues. To yell and scream at others and "express their true nature?"

Sometimes I have trouble following your logic. For people of other sexual inclinations, that is most people, those inclinations are their true nature. So what? As far as anger, I have no idea what you are driving at.

Some say they have anger issues. They get angry and scream and yell at people and cannot control it. Is that acceptable or do we tell those people they need to handle their anger issues even though they claim it is their true nature.

Why should we not be accepting of the person screaming at the cashier when they might just be revealing their true nature? Or are you ready to deny that person their true nature?

The difference, and this is why I have trouble following your logic, is that in one case the behaviour is between consenting adults and in the other there are non consenting people involved. You and I are free to believe whatever we wish about sin. We are not free to impose our view if sin on the rest of society. I happen to believe that it is sinfull to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. I don't fear for the country because most people don't agree with me.

I was unaware that the U.S. Census Bureau had, as part of its information form, a section that allowed one to list that they were a "same-sex couple." I've been looking for the copy I made of mine from 2 years ago, but I certainly don't recall that.

Maybe next they will ask us, as part of Census Data, how many of us are virgins, and whether we prefer Coke to Pepsi.
