The following 2 quotes are from my friend, EagleEye, and were made 2 years ago. He eloquently states the respect that LCA (and other schools) have for what Beechwood has accomplished: your tradition, tough schedule and quality teams, year in and year out.

This is from the heart. What gets annoying is that it seems that many (not all) Beechwood supporters just don't extend respect to other programs (read the entire thread). Other teams' schedules are denigrated, no team has as many athletes, no one has faced a team (line) like Beechwood, no one can possibly match up. It just gets tiresome (to MANY of us around the state).

 

If you get negative responses, that's why.

 

Some of you will dismiss this. That's fine. You're big boys and girls. Do what you want with this.

Very nice Bluto, I to got a little worked up, you are right. Just want all L.C.A. fans to know we are just happy to be in the final game where the two best will be honored, it is a great week and a great weekend in high school football. Please enjoy it, it is hard to get to the finals, very hard to do it consistantly. I hope the best team wins, but, most of all we enjoy the day and memories because they are quick to fade. Good luck to both teams, I pray for all concerned to come away healthy.:thumb:

I respect Coach Yeagle, Beechwood tradition, and the strength of schedule of Beechwood - afterall, they are 8-3 and still ranked in the top 5 in Class A! Nuff said!

 

However, LCA has the respect this year of those who are paid to study these things and are ALSO ranked in the top 5...LCA's GOALS are to be like Beechwood - that is a compliment! LCA DOES have 1st-2nd graders wearing LCA Football jerseys around because we know HOW to build a program as well - it starts in ELEMENTARY(our 3rd year of having it) and builds from there. Granted, LCA does NOT have the playoff experience of a Beechwood - but WHO does! Beechwood is rich in tradition and they know HOW to play Football!

 

Give our kids SOME credit boys - THEY have paid their dues since 7th grade - believe me on that. And I do not mean they got to win a bunch of games either - on the contrary - they got their heads beat in up to their Sophomore year and they know what they are working for and they KNOW what stands in their way -

 

THIS will be a VERY good game, regardless of the outcome. Go EAGLES!!!

The schedule is the schedule...LCA beefed up its schedule this year and that earned us some respect.

 

We have NO CONTROL over what DISTRICT opponents we play or how good/bad they are - we just have to play them and hope for the best...

 

WHAT did Beechwood look like after its 5th year of Football? Did you have TRADITION then? Step back and look at LCA's program and understand that COach Rains has done a tremendous job with this group of Seniors he took over as Sophomores (8-3 in 2003, 8-3 in 2004, 10-1 this year)...LCA is too young to have a TRADITION yet...

 

Beechwood has GROWN into being able to play the schedule you do and I think LCA wants to get to that point as well - Beechwood, NCC, Bellevue and Northern KY football is AWESOME and I am a huge fan of the top quality athletes and coaches up there! Envious actually...At least we want to emulate the BEST programs!

So, unless they had a lot of players getting tons of playing time as freshmen, this is almost as new for them as it is for LCA. I can't see much advantage except the coach has been there before (albeit as an assistant).

 

I look for a very tough phyiscal game and hope the Eagles pull it out.

This is true. Three of our current seniors have rings. Elliott, Bankemper and Davis. The other 13 got to dress for the dance, but didn't get in. They at least have been to the facility and remember the drill. I'm sure their stomachs were a little more settled in '04 than they will be this year, though. Many have siblings who have been there, who are being very supportive and sharing tips with their younger sibs.

I know in my own house, the '04 State Ring is being sported by the elder to encourage the younger. (It's also been used as a weapon )

Hey, whatever it takes! Oh, wait, that was the theme in '04!

I like Beechwood in this pretty handily, say 35-14. I am ultra impressed with how far LCA has come in a very short time and do expect to see this matchup repeated in coming years.

I'm trying to focus on the special-ness of these last few days, but I'm starting to be emotional. Last kid, last game, yada, yada yada. NO! I have to focus like the players! Be strong! Chin up! There's a mission to be accomplished! Ahhh, I feel better.
